Have the Houston Texans Ever Won the Super Bowl?

The Houston Texans have admirable long-term health with a bright young star at QB. But have they ever won a Super Bowl before?

The Houston Texans and QB C.J. Stroud took the NFL by storm last year. Right out of the gate, Stroud proved he belonged. He looks to be a home-run draft pick for the Texans and a franchise quarterback.

While Houston has its sights set on a Super Bowl title, let’s take a closer look at the Texans’ history to see if they have ever won a Lombardi Trophy before.

Did the Houston Texans Ever Win the Super Bowl?

While they’re certainly not alone in this, the short answer is no, the Texans have never won a Super Bowl. In addition to never winning a title, they’re the only franchise to never win a road playoff game or appear in a Conference Championship.

    Texans Are Not Alone

Eleven other NFL franchises join the Texans in relative misery in the “not winning a Super Bowl” category. Houston is also one of four franchises to have never even appeared in a Super Bowl, alongside the Browns, the Detroit Lions, and the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars.

Some teams around them have been in the league longer than others, but either way, there are a dozen NFL organizations on the hunt for their first taste of championship success.

The 11 other franchises still looking for their first Super Bowl victory are the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Lions, Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, and Tennessee Titans.

Buffalo, Detroit, and Houston will join Cleveland in the playoffs this year.

Of the 12 NFL teams who haven’t won a Super Bowl, eight of them have appeared in the game but were unsuccessful in bringing home a title. Those teams were the Bills and Vikings — who made the “Big Game” four times a piece — the Bengals with three, the Falcons and the Panthers twice, and the Cardinals, Chargers, and Titans, who have all been once.

The Texans hope that this is the year they can remove themselves from this dreaded list. With a talented quarterback and a young, energetic head coach, the future is bright in Houston.
