What Is the Halftime Show For Falcons-Vikings? Minnesota to Honor a 5-Time Pro Bowler on SNF

The first home game of the season marks a special ceremony to honor a franchise legend for the Minnesota Vikings during the Halftime Show.

The Minnesota Vikings have been the talk of the town this season. Starting off the season with an emphatic come-from-behind victory over the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, the franchise was once again in the standalone slot, this time against the Atlanta Falcons during Sunday Night Football. With J.J. McCarthy trying to outduel another fellow first-round quarterback from the 2024 draft class, the stage is set for an exciting evening.

It marks the first home game for the youngster as a Viking. But the weekend is supposed to be extra special for the franchise as it will feature a special Halftime ceremony. Rather than the usual pomp and circumstance involving a musical performance, this game will feature a ceremony to honor one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

Minnesota Vikings Planning Special Halftime Show

The start of their home slate marked an iconic introduction in Minnesota, as this year’s Hall of Fame inductee, Jared Allen, was chosen as the figure to blow on the Gjallarhorn. A feature for games in Minnesota since 2007, it officially signifies that the “Vikings are coming.”

For the organization, there was no player better suited to announce the arrival than Allen. A five-time Pro Bowl selection with the Vikings, the defensive end was a havoc-wreaking force with 136 career sacks in his 12 seasons as an NFL superstar.

Spending six years in Minnesota, he earned three All-Pro and four Pro Bowl selections with the franchise, including a monstrous 22-sack year in 2011. After short stints with the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers, he signed a one-day contract with the Vikings to retire with the franchise in 2016.

His career firmly put him on a Hall of Fame trajectory. First nominated in 2021, he fell behind the likes of Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, and Calvin Johnson. However, this year, he finally earned his place among the game’s elite.

Earning the iconic Hall of Fame Gold Jacket and the Bronze Bust, Allen has yet to wear the Ring of Excellence. He will officially receive the final symbol of his enshrinement, provided by KAY Jewellers.

The ceremony will take place at Halftime of the game between the Vikings and the Falcons, with the President & CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Jim Porter, in attendance for the event.

Set in 14K gold, it has 1.75 carats in diamond weight, with the jewels creating a stadium effect on the ring, alongside a blue gemstone to highlight confidence, power, and integrity. His ring, in particular, will also feature details about him.

One side will contain a likeness of his Bronze Bust, the words “Defensive End”, and “2004-2015,” while the other will have “Jared Allen,” the Pro Football Hall of Fame logo, and “Class of 2025.” The ring will also contain the Allen’s enshrinee number, 380, engraved on the inside.
