‘Give Em Hell’ – NFL Fans Onboard With Minnesota Vikings Signing the Recently Released Daniel Jones

    Published on

Daniel Jones is making strides in the NFL after his release from the New York Giants and fans are more than excited for his new ventures!

Daniel Jones’ time with the New York Giants officially ended on November 22, closing a chapter filled with both promise and disappointment. The 27-year-old quarterback was drafted as the sixth overall pick in 2019 as the heir to Eli Manning and entered the league with high expectations. He didn’t fall short of brilliance, like his impressive 2022 season, where he led the Giants to a playoff berth, but his tenure wasn’t all perfect.

Injuries and a lack of offensive support marred Jones’ time with the Giants. He led the team to five consecutive losses this season before being benched in favor of third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito. Shortly after losing his starting job, Jones was released from the team, officially ending his Giants career.

Fans React with Hope for Daniel Jones in Minnesota

Fox NFL Reporter Jordan Schultz revealed that Jones now has a chance to write a new chapter, this time with Minnesota. In a recent tweet, he painted the full picture of Jones’ future in the NFL, writing:

“Former #Giants QB Daniel Jones is signing with the #Vikings, sources tell @NFLonFOX. Jones had several options, but prioritized a team in contention with a QB-friendly offensive system and a coaching staff known for maximizing player potential.”

The Vikings have reportedly signed Jones to their practice squad, allowing the quarterback to work with a new coaching staff and system for the first time in his NFL career. Meanwhile, fans are optimistic that Jones can rebuild his career in purple and gold, flooding social media with words of encouragement.

For starters, a fan added, “@Daniel_Jones10 Give em Hell.”

A surprised voice wrote, “HOLY SH*****.”

“Good for him. I haven’t really followed his career (I’m a Dolphins fan and pay much more attention to the AFC), but the Giants are such a dysfunctional organization. I’m happy to see Jones get a chance with a solid one. I have no idea how he will do, but I wish him the best,” one fan said.

However, a few voices have also addressed the question of Sam Darnold versus Daniel Jones in Minnesota. A fan compared the two, commenting, “Is it crazy to say Jones > Darnold?”

“Vikings going to win a SB with Darnold and Danny Dimes and laugh at both the Jets and Giants doing so,” wrote another excited voice.

A concerned follower noted, “Team is gonna have a QB controversy”.

Minnesota’s success has been notable in turning around struggling quarterbacks, most notably with Sam Darnold. He has thrived in Minnesota’s offense, and with his one-year deal expiring soon, the Vikings’ only long-term option at quarterback is rookie J.J. McCarthy, who is recovering from a torn meniscus.

However, if Jones manages to impress in the meantime, he could carve out a role in Minnesota and perhaps even compete for a backup or starting job in the future.
