Giants vs. Chargers Prediction, Pick: Can Justin Herbert hold off Jake Fromm in Week 14?

We break down the Giants vs. Chargers Week 14 contest and make a pick and prediction -- can the Chargers stay in the playoff race?

An injury-riddled New York Giants team will travel across the country for a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. New York hasn’t found much success throughout the season, regardless of injuries. They bring a 4-8 record into this game, including a 1-5 road record. Los Angeles has found significantly more success, boasting a 7-5 record, although they’ve struggled a bit at home. In this article, we’ll look at the NFL odds along with a pick and prediction for the Giants vs. Chargers.

New York Giants vs. Los Angeles Chargers pick, prediction | Week 14

  • Spread: Chargers -10.5 (Odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook)
  • Moneyline: Giants +400, Chargers -550
  • Over/Under: 44.5

Can Jake Fromm spark New York’s offense?

Jake Fromm should draw his first career start with Daniel Jones and Mike Glennon unlikely to play this weekend. He wasn’t an elite NFL prospect, as many evaluators didn’t believe he had the arm strength to succeed at the NFL level.

Fromm played in three preseason games for the Buffalo Bills, recording 172 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions on 36 pass attempts. His 4.8 yards per attempt leave plenty to be desired, as he only completed 58.3% of his pass attempts.

Kenny Golladay is questionable to play this weekend, while Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney are expected to miss this game. Fromm will be put in a tough spot with several secondary options, including Kaden Smith, Dante Pettis, and C.J. Board also injured.

Jones and Glennon struggled to command this offense, and Fromm likely won’t find much more success.

Giants vs. Chargers betting trends

Both of these teams have been neutral against the spread (ATS) this season. They each enter this game with a 6-6 ATS record. With that being said, Los Angeles owns a 2-4 home ATS record, while New York stays at 50% on the road.

New York and Los Angeles have found the under more often than not in 2021. The Giants have hit it in 72.7% of their games, while the Chargers have found the under in 58.3% of theirs.

Giants vs. Chargers prediction

It’s easy to predict the winner of this game. Nonetheless, predicting the spread is more difficult, as a 10.5-point spread is quite a wide margin.

I don’t believe Fromm is an NFL quarterback, and there’s a reason he’s the third-string option for a bad team. The Chargers should be able to shut down an injured Giants offense. The question becomes whether or not New York’s defense can slow down the Los Angeles offense.

I believe they can to some extent, making the under a better bet than the spread. Both are interesting in this matchup, though.

Giants vs. Chargers Prediction: Chargers 21, Giants 9
