Giants Predicted To Add Explosive QB-WR Duo of the Future in 1st 2 Rounds of 2025 NFL Draft

The New York Giants are still without a quarterback. While they wait on a decision from former New York Jets signal-caller Aaron Rodgers, they have scheduled visits with fellow veterans Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco.

However, according to PFSN’s latest three-round mock draft, the most significant additions to the Giants’ passing attack could come in late April.

Giants Wait On Aaron Rodgers, Pivot to Other Veterans

With several veteran quarterbacks still on the free agent market, four-time MVP Rodgers appears to be the most sought-after. The 2010 Super Bowl champion is taking his time with his decision but is believed to be choosing between the Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers—the team he defeated in that Super Bowl.

The Giants can’t afford to wait too long, though, and have scheduled visits with both Wilson and Flacco. While Flacco would likely accept a backup role at this point in his career, Wilson would expect to start, having led the Steelers to the playoffs in 2024.

As it stands, the Giants have only one quarterback under contract—Tommy DeVito, who was re-signed after an up-and-down run over the last two seasons. Fans expect DeVito to be the team’s third-string option in 2025, if not fourth, meaning at least two more quarterbacks are likely to be added.

Signing Wilson or Rodgers would likely lead the Giants to draft a younger backup, allowing that player to develop without immediate pressure. If the team adds Flacco, though, it could signal that a rookie will start in 2025—a scenario backed by PFSN’s latest mock draft.

Giants Select Shedeur Sanders With No. 3 Pick

PFSN’s latest mock draft projects the Giants selecting Shedeur Sanders at No. 3 overall after the Tennessee Titans open the door by taking pass rusher Abdul Carter, the draft’s No. 1 prospect according to many analysts.. Sanders has been a polarizing prospect leading up to the draft, with questions surrounding his ability and character.

“Sanders is the most accurate passer in this class and has the mobility to extend plays. While some question his arm strength, pairing him with Malik Nabers could ease those concerns early in his career.

“Sanders’ biggest hurdle will be handling pressure, as he tends to hold onto the ball too long and sometimes moves into pressure instead of away from it.”

If Sanders lands with the Giants, he could benefit from having a veteran like Flacco as a mentor. Flacco narrowly missed playing alongside Sanders’ father, Deion, in Baltimore, being drafted in 2008 — three years after Deion’s final NFL season in 2005.

In 2024, Sanders completed 353 passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, leading the Big 12 with a 74% completion rate and 8.7 yards per attempt.

Matthew Golden Joins Sanders, Nabers on Giants

If the Giants draft Sanders, they would already have a promising young offense featuring an elite receiver in Nabers and rising prospects at tight end and running back in Theo Johnson and Tyrone Tracy Jr. Adding wide receiver Matthew Golden in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft would further solidify New York’s offensive rebuild.

Golden, a polished route-runner with reliable hands and contested-catch ability, made waves at the NFL Combine by leading all receivers in the 40-yard dash. His time of 4.29 seconds would have ranked second among receivers at last year’s Combine, trailing only Xavier Worthy and beating out Brian Thomas Jr.

While the Giants’ offensive line remains a major concern, the additions of Sanders and Golden could provide a spark. If New York commits to a full rebuild on offense, it would mark a dramatic turnaround, with first- and second-year players starting at every skill position, including quarterback. Regardless of how fans feel about the team’s overall trajectory, that level of change is hard not to get excited about.
