Giants’ QB Options Taking Shape As New York Schedules Private Draft Workouts With 3 Quarterbacks, Including Shedeur Sanders

New York Giants intensify QB evaluations ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, scheduling private workouts with Shedeur Sanders and others as they explore long-term options.

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the New York Giants are entering the final stretch of their evaluation process — and their focus is clearly on the quarterback position. Despite signing veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, the Giants are still eyeing long-term solutions.

According to recent reports, the Giants have scheduled private workouts with three quarterback prospects: Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), Jalen Milroe (Alabama), and Tyler Shough (Louisville). These sessions suggest New York may select a quarterback in the upcoming draft, either with their No. 3 overall pick or by trading back into the first round.

Giants Wrap Up NFL Draft Process With ‘Quarterback Blitz’

Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported that the Giants have planned a comprehensive quarterback scouting effort.

“The Giants are wrapping up the draft process with a quarterback blitz, scheduling private workouts with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Louisville’s Tyler Shough, just over a week before the draft,” Schultz said. “This isn’t a last-ditch effort. They’re doing full due diligence on this QB class and preparing for all scenarios, including a possible trade back into Round 1 if a QB starts to slide.”

This shows that the Giants’ front office has been deliberate in its approach — not reactionary — and is ready for a range of draft-day outcomes.

Sanders Getting Most Attention From New York Giants

Among the three, Sanders is drawing the most attention. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, “Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders will hold one last private workout Thursday in Boulder, Colorado, for a contingent of officials from the New York Giants.”

While some analysts, like Nate Tice, project Sanders outside the first round, he’s still viewed as a high-upside passer who could develop behind veterans like Wilson and Winston.

Milroe brings elite athleticism, racking up over 1,200 rushing yards in two seasons. Though his passing remains inconsistent, his dual-threat potential makes him an intriguing developmental option.

Shough, meanwhile, is a seasoned signal-caller with experience at Oregon, Texas Tech, and Louisville. “The Giants have planned a private workout with Louisville QB Tyler Shough later in the week,” NFL insider Jonathan Jones reported.

While not flashy, Shough’s maturity and versatility could offer reliable depth in a quarterback room that lacks long-term clarity.

Holding the No. 3 overall pick, the Giants may still opt for top defensive talents like Penn State’s Abdul Carter or Colorado’s Travis Hunter. But their extensive quarterback scouting signals a strong desire to avoid repeating past mistakes — particularly the misfire on Daniel Jones in 2019 — by ensuring they’ve done their homework.

Whether a quarterback is taken early or not, one thing is clear: The Giants are preparing for the future. And that future likely includes a new face under center.
