It is a three-team race for two quarterbacks at the top of the NFL Draft. With the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants all needing a new signal-caller for their offense, options are limited with Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward the only two names standing out from the pack.
So far, it is anyone’s guess how things shake out. But the big market allure of New York, combined with the cleats incident from ages ago, has put a pin on Sanders potentially landing in New York. However, one key draft expert believes there is a chance the Giants take a third quarterback.

Bold New York Giants Quarterback Selection Predicted by Todd McShay
The latest mock draft from PFSN has the Giants selecting Sanders, while Ward is taken first overall by the Tennessee Titans. Looking across the NFL landscape, it is certainly a popular choice among fans and analysts alike.
However, draft expert Todd McShay is visiting the scenario where New York can’t get their hands on either Sanders or Ward. In that scenario, after biting the bullet with Travis Hunter, he wants them to trade up for a different QB, Jaxson Dart.
“New York moves up from no. 34 to no. 19 for Dart. I could see a combo of Russell Wilson and Dart as the quarterback outcome for GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. If the Giants make this move, Travis Hunter and Dart would become the long-term building blocks for the G-Men.”
Of course, this is entirely predicated on the top two names not being available for New York. “If Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are off the board before New York picks at no. 3—making it the second year in a row that New York is unable to land one of the top quarterbacks in the draft—I would argue that this is the better outcome for the team.”
In PFSN’s mock draft, Dart instead fell to a different team trading up, the Cleveland Browns, who would move from 33 to 29 to snag Dart and pair him with Abdul Carter, who they chose with the second overall pick.
A four-year collegiate veteran, Dart had an impressive final year with Ole Miss, tallying 4,279 yards on a 69.3% completion percentage. He added 29 touchdowns through the air, but he also showed some underrated athleticism, with 495 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as well.
Thanks to his production and efficiency, Dart and Sanders, who most drafts believe is the Giants’ preferred pick, aren’t too far apart as a prospect for McShay.
“I don’t think that the gap between Sanders and Dart is as large as many seem to think.” Furthermore, he believes the Rebeles product might work even better in head coach Brian Daboll’s system.
“More importantly, Dart has the stronger arm and is more mobile, and if you look at Daboll’s track record (including Josh Allen in Buffalo and Jalen Hurts at Alabama), those traits very favorably work with what he asks for from his quarterback.”
New York needs a quarterback in its midst, especially after the way the Daniel Jones era sputtered to an end. But, if McShay is correct, then it might not be the name the entirety of the Giants fanbase has hoped for.
