NFL Insider Reveals Giants May Be Trying To Land Both Abdul Carter and Shedeur Sanders in Franchise-Changing Draft

The New York Giants may target both Abdul Carter and Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, aiming to reshape both sides of the ball.

In what could be a defining draft for the New York Giants, NFL insider Peter Schrager suggested the franchise may be aiming to land both Penn State’s explosive edge rusher Abdul Carter and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. If successful, this strategy could reshape the team’s foundation for years to come.

New York Giants May Be Eyeing Bold Double Play in 2025 Draft

Recently, on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Schrager highlighted the intensity of the Giants’ interest in Sanders, noting, “The Giants had 13 different people at his pro day… they had him in for a top-30 visit. Then they took him out to dinner. (GM) Joe Schoen himself went to multiple Shedeur Sanders games this year… So when you tell me they’re going for another private workout, it’s more than just due diligence.

“This is, we are going to make sure if he is our quarterback, we are 100% certain that this is the guy we love.”

Despite that, Schrager added that it doesn’t necessarily mean the Giants will take Sanders at No. 3 overall. Instead, he floated a possible draft plan.

“What that could mean is the Giants get Abdul Carter out of Penn State number three. And then if Shedeur starts slipping out of the top 10, out of the teens, maybe that’s when they pull the trigger.”

That idea makes sense, but according to PFSN’s latest mock draft, Carter doesn’t make it to New York’s selection, with the Cleveland Browns taking him at No. 2 overall.

Carter is the top-ranked edge rusher and potentially a game-changer on defense. His burst off the edge and versatility would pair well with All-Pro Myles Garrett in Cleveland’s projected scenario, but if the Browns go in a different direction at No. 2, the Giants could pounce.

Meanwhile, Sanders — once mocked as the possible No. 1 overall pick — is currently projected by PFSN to fall into the late teens, falling all the way down to No. 18 overall to the Seattle Seahawks, where he’d sit behind newly signed Sam Darnold.

Schrager offered more insight into Pittsburgh’s interest in Sanders.

“He had a really good meeting with Pittsburgh last week… that lasted like five hours. He met with Arthur Smith. He met with Mike Tomlin… that to me seems like a good backstop. Like, worse comes to worse for Shedeur, 21 would be a really nice place for him to go.”

The Giants’ pursuit of Sanders isn’t exclusive. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they’re also holding private workouts with Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Louisville’s Tyler Shough, signaling that they’re exploring all quarterback options depending on how the board falls.

With the No. 3 overall pick and veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston already in the building, the Giants may be planning a future built around Carter’s disruptive defense and Sanders’ leadership at quarterback.
