Germie Bernard’s NFL Draft Potential

Germie Bernard has been Ty Simpson’s favorite target amidst the latter’s monumental rise in the 2026 NFL Draft — and in the process, Bernard himself has risen up the board. Through seven games, Bernard has 33 catches for 472 yards and five touchdowns. His 80.3 PFSN CFB WRi score is above the 90th percentile among qualifying WRs, and per TruMedia, he’s averaging seven yards after catch per reception.

What you see is what you get with Bernard. The former Michigan State transfer doesn’t quite have elite speed or explosion, but at 6’1″, 209 pounds, he’s a well-built three-level threat with a skill set tailor-made for the professional level. Bernard has a working release package and an excellent feel for tempo, depth, and spacing against zone. He’s fearless working over the middle of the field, and he has the strong hands to convert on anticipatory darts from his QB.

Bernard is nuanced as a separator and strong at the catch point, but as evidenced by his RAC metrics, his ability after the catch is where he stands to potentially elevate himself. With his hyper-dense frame, he has high-level contact balance and play strength as a ball carrier, and while his testing numbers won’t break the meter, he has more than enough explosiveness and agility to make use of seams and get upfield.

As a bonus beyond his well-rounded receiving profile, Bernard also provides value as an elite run blocker. He’s incredibly willing with stellar play strength and technique, and his ability on the boundary does a great deal toward springing outside runs. He may never be a WR1, but as a high-quality WR2 or WR3, Bernard will have a steady role in an NFL offense.

CFB Week 9 Update

Another week, another performance where Bernard distinguishes himself as a high-floor WR target with a bright NFL future. Against South Carolina, Bernard caught five passes for 54 yards and a score, and he also ran the ball three times for 23 yards and an additional score.

Bernard is a clutch chain-mover and contested converter with savvy separation skills, and he has the RAC ability to be weaponized on designed touches as well. As a utility player alone, Bernard holds merit with his physicality and blocking prowess, but he also fits the three-level threat framework at WR fairly well, and he showed that on Saturday.

CFB Week 10 Update

Alabama was on a bye in Week 10, but the Crimson Tide will return to action in Week 11 against the LSU Tigers. The Tigers are reeling after the firing of Brian Kelly, but their offense remains in command of a collegiate veteran in Garrett Nussmeier, and the defense will pose a threat to Alabama’s offense with Mansoor Delane and AJ Haulcy looming in the secondary.

CFB Week 11 Update

Bernard had another productive day catching passes from Simpson against LSU, hauling in three receptions for 79 yards. His best play of the day was an intermediate crosser working against zone, where Bernard was able to sear underneath a misaligned post safety and get upfield for additional RAC.

He’s more of a zone-beater than a man-beater stylistically, but there’s something to be said for Bernard’s spatial acumen, functional athleticism, fearlessness working the middle, and explosive, physical after-catch ability. He’s a pro in every sense.

CFB Week 12 Update

While the Alabama offense struggled more than expected in Week 12, Bernard had another solid day, catching seven of 13 targets for 71 yards. Once again, his zone-beating acumen was at the forefront, but he also left meat on the bone at times as a RAC threat.

While Bernard is a very good functional athlete with enough explosiveness to work in space, his speed and burst aren’t quite elite, and that can help the defense close the lid on him at times. Nevertheless, Bernard profiles well as a pro-ready WR with great spatial instincts as a separator, strong hands over the middle, and actionable RAC utility.

Where Is Bernard Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?

Bernard currently holds the No. 68 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 59.1 as of November 19 reflects that he is typically being selected in the second or third round.

Interestingly, his ADP is higher than his rank, suggesting that users are targeting him more aggressively than his positional ranking might indicate.

Users controlling the Atlanta Falcons have been the team that selected Bernard the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.7% of their picks across all seven rounds.
