Friday Night Football NFL DFS picks: Top DraftKings lineup for Packers vs. Saints

If you're doing NFL DFS picks for the Packers vs. Saints, here is our favorite lineup, including Romeo Doubs, Jordan Love, and yes, Ian Book.

If you’re making NFL DFS picks for Friday Night Football, then you’ve come to the right place. Although it’s always challenging to anticipate preseason snap counts, we’ve analyzed each team’s expectations and run through dozens of realistic scripts for tonight’s game featuring the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints in order to provide our recommended fantasy football lineup.

Top DraftKings NFL DFS picks for Packers vs. Saints

Today we’re playing a DraftKings “Showdown Captain Mode” tournament that includes one player who earns 1.5 times his scoring output, plus five Flex players. As always, we’re looking for that DFS sweet spot — the intersection of talent and preseason usage.

    Jordan Love, QB, Packers ($11,400)

Jordan Love is still trying to prove himself more than two years after Green Bay (mistakenly?) drafted him in the first round. Like so many QBs before him, Love has an almost impossible hill to climb to exceed lofty expectations.

That said, the Packers clearly want to see a lot of him this preseason, and Love has the tools to become an NFL starter someday. Given his ceiling against a collection of Saints starters and backups, Love belongs in the Captain slot.

    Danny Etling, QB, Packers ($7,600)

Danny Etling could be on the wrong side of the cut list right now. Green Bay doesn’t need to carry three QBs into the season, and tonight might be his last shot at proving he belongs on more than a practice squad. Etling should see several drives and is a decent bet for 80+ yards and a score.

    Ian Book, QB, Saints ($7,600)

What he lacks in experience, Ian Book should make up for in volume tonight, as Andy Dalton might not see more than one offensive drive. Book is a risky DFS play who could also lead two second-half scoring drives against a large swath of third-stringers. Book is also still competing for a larger future role, as he’s signed with Saints until 2024.

    Tyler Goodson, RB, Packers ($7,600)

Tyler Goodson led all Packers in rushing attempts last weekend, and he also caught two passes. The rookie caught an impressive 70 passes at Iowa across 34 games — more than your typical collegiate starting RB. I also like that Goodson’s fighting for a roster spot. Clearly, this team wanted to see a lot of him last week, and he fared well enough to get another good look tonight.

    Romeo Doubs, WR, Packers ($7,600)

It was easy to bet on Romeo Doubs last week, and it’s just as easy tonight. Sure, he could suddenly take a backseat in Week 2 of the preseason, but he also hasn’t officially “earned” a starting job. A weak showing could reinforce Aaron Rodgers’ recent less-than-flattering words regarding his rookie receivers. However, a strong showing could force the Packers to give Doubs sizable Week 1 snaps.

    Amari Rodgers, WR, Packers ($7,600)

It’s easy to forget that Amari Rodgers was a third-round draft pick last year. Despite the packed receiving corps, currently, only Allen Lazard is assured a prominent role. At least five other receivers are battling for two spots.

While the picture could remain blurry until midseason, Rodgers has the chops to push for 60+ snaps this year and 80+ by 2023. He’ll get another chance tonight to prove he belongs in this conversation.
