Francis Mauigoa’s NFL Draft Potential

At the moment, Francis Mauigoa is my top-rated offensive lineman in the 2026 NFL Draft, regardless of position. He could project either to tackle or guard at the NFL level, but has the skills to thrive wherever he ends up. He’s been a starter for the entirety of his career with the Hurricanes, but particularly in 2025, he’s taken it up a notch as a true tone-setter and standard-bearer on Miami’s offensive front.

At 6’6″, 315 pounds, Mauigoa makes up for his middling length with picture-perfect frame proportions and compact mass. He’s an elite athlete with blistering explosiveness and sweeping range off the line, and he has the foot speed, lateral burst, and recovery athleticism to keep positioning in pass protection while using heavy hands to gather. Mauigoa will get caught grasping and over-extending at times, which is why a move to guard could ultimately be in his best interest, but at either OT or OG, he has the raw athletic traits, the requisite soft skills, and the mauler mentality to be a stud.

CFB Week 9 Update

Miami dominated Stanford 42-7 in Week 9, and the running game was the highlight for the Hurricanes. With a positive game script and a green light to engage with full physicality and judicious zeal, Francis Mauigoa unleashed some of his best run blocking tape of the year, with many of the hallmarks that we’ve come to expect: ultra-explosive athleticism off the line, the hip flexibility to rotate and seal out defenders, flawless base load and leverage acquisition to generate lower-body drive, and the finisher’s mentality that leaves defenders with hurting joints and pride. Whether he plays at OT or OG in the NFL, Mauigoa’s run blocking will be an asset.

CFB Week 10 Update

The Hurricanes may have dropped the game against SMU, but Mauigoa played at the standard we’ve come to expect from him. Miami was comfortable leaving him on an island in the passing game, and in the running game, his elite athleticism, range, and physicality led to consistent lane-clearing at the second level.

In pass protection, Mauigoa was explosive out of his stance, consistently balanced and well-leveraged, and was able to use independent hands and successive strikes to gather rushers while staying in-sync and with a strong base. His arm length looms as his biggest question mark, but he may have the leverage acquisition skills, athleticism, and technical proficiency to stick at tackle. If he doesn’t, he can be an All-Pro guard at his peak.

CFB Week 11 Update

It was a fun – capital F – week for Mauigoa, who proved instrumental in Miami’s blowout win over the Syracuse Orange. Through four quarters, Mauigoa’s range, recovery athleticism, and matching ability served him well in pass protection, and that same range enabled him to pull and climb to the second level consistently in the run game.

The exclamation point for Mauigoa, however, was a schemed receiving TD on which Mauigoa caught a screen and ran it in for the score. His short arms may ultimately force him inside to guard, but at either spot, he has the athleticism, compact power, and energy to be a tone-setter.

Where Is Mauigoa Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?

Mauigoa currently holds the No. 9 overall rank among prospects, indicating his elite standing as of the most recent update. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 13.3 as of November 11 reflects that he is typically being selected in the first round.

This small gap between rank and ADP suggests he’s consistently valued among evaluators, even amid fluctuations in player evaluations at this stage of the draft cycle.

Users controlling the Arizona Cardinals have been the team that selected Mauigoa the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 6.1% of their picks across all seven rounds. Notably, 17.1% of the Arizona Cardinals’ first-round selections over that same period were used on Mauigoa, underscoring users’ strong preference for him as a potential immediate-impact offensive lineman.
