Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky had given a glowing account of former Miami quarterback Cam Ward ahead of the NFL Draft. According to Orlovsky, the potential first-overall pick already plays like an NFL quarterback, “from huddle to post-snap.”

Dan Orlovsky Narrates His Favorite Cam Ward Play
At the beginning of the pre-draft process, four players were being touted as potential first-overall picks. The Tennessee Titans’ apparent lack of interest in any of the veteran free-agent quarterbacks, though, has seen Miami quarterback Cam Ward moved by many to the front of that group.
That would make sense for Orlovsky, who has posted a video to his social media, praising the young quarterback. The video shows Orlovsky breaking down his favorite play of Ward’s, highlighting each step in the process. As the video shows Ward adjusting the play at the line of scrimmage, before signaling the change to his receivers, Orlovsky notes Ward’s NFL-ready qualities.
“To me, this process looks like an NFL process. Of a quarterback getting there and going, ‘No, I’ve got something. I see something that I want, or I see a problem.”

Orlovsky then continues to narrate the play as Ward pivots to his second read and makes a throw down the middle of the field. The former pro’s enthusiasm could be heard throughout the clip. Accompanying the video was the caption, “This is what a #1 pick at QB looks like. From huddle to post-snap. Pro day today will only confirm. @Titans don’t overthink.”
Is Ward Heading to Tennessee?
As the 2025 NFL Draft draws ever closer, Ward and Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter appear to have separated from Colorado prospects Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. While Carter and Hunter are believed to be the best two players in the draft, the positional needs of the three teams picking first have influenced mock drafts.

With several veteran free-agent quarterbacks available, the Titans have been quiet, while the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants have both held meetings with Russell Wilson. That lack of movement from Tennessee would suggest that the team has its eyes on a new quarterback in the draft. Ward is the consensus number-one prospect at the position, though many still believe Sanders to be the top option.
Is Ward the Best of a Bad Bunch?
The 2025 Draft class is not believed to boast the same level of quarterbacks as the previous class. Most analysts believe both Ward and Sanders to be a reach where currently projected. PFSN’s scout report on Ward would seem to agree with that. While noting his obvious arm talent and physicality, the report also highlights his flaws.
“If a team forces Ward on the field as a rookie, it will likely lead to disaster. He’s not cognitively ready to work within an offensive structure on an NFL timeline. You’ll see the same social media highlight throws he made at Miami to a lesser degree while the turnovers remain a thorn in his side.
He’ll be a 23-year-old rookie, but the position boasts longevity sans serious injury. Ward’s age is not a problem. The lack of development and continuation of frustrating mistakes makes a leap at the NFL level feel more fleeting. We’ve seen him light up the world in non-conference play for three seasons now at Washington State and Miami only to regress as the season progresses.”
It would seem clear, though, that both Ward and Sanders will be taken early on day one of April’s draft. Time will tell if either player will work out, with multiple jobs potentially on the line either way.
