Former Patriots QB Reveals Stefon Diggs’ Days in New England May Be Numbered After Viral Yacht Video

The New England Patriots’ offseason was meant to be defined by a fresh start — a new head coach in Mike Vrabel, a promising young quarterback in Drake Maye, and a major addition in wide receiver Stefon Diggs. But just weeks into OTAs, that new beginning has hit early turbulence.

Scott Zolak Suggests Stefon Diggs’ Future With Patriots Is Uncertain

A viral video featuring Diggs partying on a yacht over Memorial Day Weekend has sparked intense scrutiny. In the clip, Diggs is seen in the company of three women, distributing a baggie with an unidentified pink substance. The video quickly made the rounds online and prompted questions about Diggs’ judgment and commitment.

Diggs, recovering from a torn ACL, was absent from voluntary OTAs on Wednesday. While his absence isn’t unusual given the nature of these workouts, the timing — following the yacht video — raised eyebrows.

Head coach Vrabel addressed the situation before practice, emphasizing a team-wide standard: “It’s something that we’re aware of,” Vrabel said. “And obviously we want to make great decisions on and off the field.”

Vrabel added that any conversations with Diggs would “remain between him and I and the club.” His answer, while diplomatic, made it clear the organization was not dismissing the issue.

Former Patriots quarterback and current radio host Zolak weighed in on Zolak & Bertrand, suggesting Diggs’ future in New England may already be in jeopardy.

“I came to this show yesterday with the opinion – not opinion, but the knowledge that it is on the table,” Zolak said of a potential release. “And it’s not just the boat. It’s not just the boat. There are some other things that I’ve heard that put some things in question.”
Zolak questioned whether Diggs is “all-in” with the Patriots, even as he acknowledged the wideout’s talent and potential to elevate the offense.

“I say he shouldn’t be cut, because I think he would help Drake Maye and this offense and Josh McDaniels… Right now, you still don’t have a guy who sets coverage. I’m sorry.”
Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract this offseason, including $25 million guaranteed.

Brought in to provide a legitimate No. 1 target for Maye, he posted 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns with Houston last season before tearing his ACL. His recovery has reportedly impressed teammates, but this incident raises questions about his fit with Vrabel’s culture-first approach.

For now, Diggs remains atop a depth chart that includes DeMario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, and rookies Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker. Yet, in the wake of the viral video and growing internal doubts, it’s unclear how long that will last.

The Patriots may have added a top-tier talent, but as Zolak’s comments and Vrabel’s words suggest, the bigger question now is whether Diggs will ever truly suit up in Foxborough.
