The New York Giants are at a pivotal crossroads as they prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft, holding the third overall pick. Former NFL quarterback and analyst Chase Daniel has weighed in on their strategy, suggesting the Giants should take Travis Hunter over Shedeur Sanders, despite Sanders’ high-profile college career.

Giants Face Crucial Decision at No. 3 in 2025 NFL Draft
With the New York Giants holding the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the franchise is facing a big decision. After another rough season, head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are under pressure to make the right choice.
Former NFL quarterback Daniel thinks their best move isn’t picking a quarterback — it’s drafting the most talented player available: Travis Hunter.
The 2025 quarterback class is led by Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, who are seen as the top two options at the position. But with both possibly off the board by the time the Giants are on the clock, the team may need to look elsewhere. Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough are also in the mix, but taking one of them at No. 3 might be a reach.

Daniel says the Giants shouldn’t force a quarterback pick and should instead focus on talent — especially Hunter, who stood out as a two-way player in college. “They need the best player available. They need to get better offensively and defensively. And right now, that player is Travis Hunter,” Daniel said in an interview with Emmanuel Acho on “The Facility” podcast.
Hunter, a dynamic playmaker with 24 total touchdowns in his college career, is seen as a generational talent. His ability to impact both sides of the ball makes him a rare prospect. Daniel sees a potential pairing of Hunter and wide receiver Malik Nabers giving veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston more weapons while also boosting the defense.
Many think the Giants badly need a franchise quarterback, but Daniel believes taking one in a weaker class could backfire. He points out that if teams let quarterbacks slide in the first round, it could signal doubts about the talent in this year’s group. “If we see Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, all these guys dropping, it’s going to tell you a lot about that second tier,” he said.
The Giants’ recent moves add to the uncertainty. Signing Wilson and Winston gives them experienced starters, so they might not feel pressure to draft a quarterback right away. If neither plays well, the team could look to the 2026 draft, which might have stronger options.
In the end, the Giants have to balance the risk of taking a quarterback against the chance to land a proven playmaker. Drafting Hunter could help both the offense and defense right away, making him a strong option over Sanders. With the draft getting closer, all eyes are on New York to see which way they go.
To sound idiotic
You guys are getting paid big money to south d idiotic. If Sanders is available at #3 you have to take him. The Giants are supposed to be looking for a franchise qb, we signed Russell to a 1 year contract. We don’t need Hunter , but those stooges will take hunter the try finding our qb in later rounds. Pure Stupid…
