It has been a whirlwind journey to the 2025 NFL Draft for Shedeur Sanders. For quite some time, the Colorado QB was projected to be the first overall selection this year. Now, talks of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm winner falling outside the top three appear to be gaining more traction.
With only one other team in the top 10 in somewhat dire need of QB help, where will Sanders go?

NFL Analyst Drops Bombshell Claim Regarding Sanders and Team
During a recent segment of ESPN’s “On Draft,” Louis Riddick and his co-hosts discussed the Sanders saga and how they see it playing out.
Louis Riddick on Shedeur Sanders: "This young man's going to be just fine. And you know what? I hope he doesn't go in the top three picks. I hope he doesn't. And I think his camp would tell you the same thing. There are other teams they want to go to." pic.twitter.com/KQ6HtlgZcy

In the clip, Riddick elaborated on a claim that Colorado offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur had made, saying, “Shedeur is someone who wants to be collaborative. He is someone you want to talk with. He doesn’t like to be told, ‘This is the way we’re gonna do things,’ and then you’re just gonna need to fall in line.”
The former Pittsburgh Panther continued by praising Sanders and saying he has earned the right to be involved in the process.
“He’s earned that right because of the way he has played,” said Riddick. “This young man is gonna be just fine, and you know what, I hope he doesn’t go in the top three picks. I hope he doesn’t.”
Riddick added, “I think his camp would tell you the same thing. There are other teams that they want to go to.”
With such a fiery claim from Riddick, what team could he be talking about?
Sanders and the Saints: A Match Made in Heaven?
Selecting 10th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints have shown growing interest in the 134-touchdown man. That includes new head coach Kellen Moore recently sitting in on Sanders’ pro day.
If Sanders landed in New Orleans, he would not only get to work with a former NFL QB in his head coach, but he would also gain insight from a seasoned league veteran. As Derek Carr sees out what is inevitably the final stretch of his NFL career, mentoring a young QB like Sanders could be the perfect closing chapter to his run.
That said, Carr still has some fight left in him. If Sanders were to sit behind Carr for a year or two, his ceiling could rise even higher — especially compared to landing with a team like Cleveland and starting right away. Wherever the 6-foot-2 QB lands, you can expect plenty of eyes on him as he begins his NFL journey.
