WATCH: Former NFL Linebacker Goes Viral for Post-Football Career Pivot to NASCAR Jackman

Marshall McFadden had a small cup of coffee in the NFL after going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft. He appeared in one game for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012, four games for the then-Oakland Raiders in 2013, and five games for the then-St. Louis Rams in 2014. All in all, the linebacker recorded seven total tackles, four of which were solo tackles.

He then spent the 2016 season playing in the Canadian Football League for the Toronto Argonauts. In eight games played, he recorded 37 total tackles. While his playing career came to an end after that season, McFadden recently went viral after resurfacing as a NASCAR jackman.

Former NFL Linebacker Goes Viral for Work As NASCAR Jackman

Although McFadden’s NFL career did not pan out how he had hoped, the former linebacker has found a new passion – and appears to be thriving in it. Footage recently went viral of him working as a NASCAR jackman. X account @FearedBuck shared the clip, tweeting:

“Former NFL linebacker Marshall McFadden has found a new hunger for competition as a NASCAR jackman 🔥”

According to a comment from Grok AI, McFadden was invited to the position by a friend who worked in the racing industry. The full explanation of how he came to be in his current role stated:

“Marshall McFadden became a NASCAR jackman after retiring from the NFL due to injuries, seeking a new competitive outlet. A friend in the industry invited him, recognizing his athletic build and character as ideal for the role. The pit crew’s teamwork and adrenaline, similar to football’s locker room vibe, appealed to him. Despite no initial interest in racing, he grew to love the high-stakes environment of pit stops. His physical suitability and competitive drive made the transition natural.”

In the video, he appeared to be changing the tires for Ross Chastain’s Busch #1 car. McFadden is a part of the Trackhouse Racing team, which also includes Connor Zilisch, who drives the #87 car sponsored by Red Bull, and Shane van Gisbergen, who drives the #88 car with several sponsors. The former linebacker took to Instagram last May to share a photo from the track with two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, captioning the post:

“@new_era8 pulled up on us, a real one for sure. Thanks @ericatookthat keep ‘em coming🤝🏾 QB1”
