The injury news keeps coming and making direct impacts on our fantasy football lineups this season. Fantasy managers will now be forced to navigate at least four weeks without rookie running back Omarion Hampton. We also got unfortunate injury news for Brock Purdy, Brock Bowers, and Bucky Irving.
Below you’ll find all the significant injuries to monitor from Week 5 in fantasy football.
Brock Purdy, QB, San Francisco 49ers
Brock Purdy returned to the starting lineup for the 49ers in Week 4. Unfortunately, a setback with his toe injury during the game landed him on the inactive list again ahead of Week 5’s contest against the Los Angeles Rams.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan stated after the game that Purdy’s toe injury was considered “week-to-week,” putting his status in doubt going forward.
Mac Jones — more on him in a second — is set to be the starting quarterback for the 49ers for the foreseeable future. He has been excellent despite injuries to most of San Francisco’s pass-catching talent and should get a boost as they return to health.
Mac Jones, QB, San Francisco 49ers
Mac Jones was a big reason the 49ers were able to upset the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5 despite being without TE George Kittle and receivers Brandon Aiyuk, Ricky Pearsall, and Jauan Jennings. Jones threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions, but was hobbled throughout the game.
Jones has been working through a knee injury and was cramping during the game. He finished the game, but his status needs to be monitored throughout the week. UDFA quarterback Adrian Martinez is the only other quarterback on the roster currently.
Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Omarion Hampton’s reign as the Chargers’ bell cow running back didn’t last long. The rookie running back suffered an ankle injury against the Washington Commanders that landed him on the injured reserve, taking him off the field for at least the next four weeks.

Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal are the next running backs for Los Angeles. Haskins figures to be the starter, but both players will be hard to trust in fantasy behind an offensive line decimated by injury.
Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers
Chuba Hubbard missed Week 5’s game against the Dolphins due to a calf injury, allowing Rico Dowdle to carry the ball 23 times for 206 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 28 yards. Dowdle was the RB1 for Week 5, scoring 32.4 PPR points.
Hubbard was able to play through the calf injury in Week 4 but was inactive in Week 5 because the injury continued to linger. He may return in Week 6 against the Cowboys, but he could find himself in more of a timeshare after Dowdle impressed as the starter.
Bucky Irving, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It wasn’t shocking when Bucky Irving was ruled out in Week 5 after suffering a foot injury in Week 4 against the Eagles. However, as the week went on, we learned that Irving was also working through a shoulder injury viewed as more problematic than the foot.
Irving is also expected to miss Week 6 while the foot and shoulder injuries heal. In his absence, Rachaad White handled 80% of Tampa Bay’s offensive snaps in Week 5, racking up 14 carries for 41 yards, two touchdowns, and four receptions for 30 yards. He is in line for a similar role in Week 6.
Antonio Gibson, RB, New England Patriots
Antonio Gibson was a name to track in deeper leagues, averaging 6.0 carries and 25.8 rushing yards per game on a 19% snap share. Unfortunately, the veteran running back suffered a torn ACL on a kickoff return, ending his season.
Gibson’s modest workload will likely be distributed between veteran Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson.
Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants
Darius Slayton saw six season-high targets in his first game without Malik Nabers. Unfortunately, Slayton’s day ended in the fourth quarter due to a hamstring injury.

Slayton’s injury opens up even more opportunities for Wan’Dale Robinson and Theo Johnson. Receiver Jalin Hyatt increased his role from 11 personnel (three wide receiver formations) to a full-time player with Slayton off the field.
Brenton Strange, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
Brenton Strange has been the most consistent piece of Jacksonville’s passing attack to start the 2025 season. Unfortunately, a hip injury in the first half of Monday night’s matchup ended his game early.
Strange has been fantasy viable at points throughout this season, so be sure to monitor his injury status closely this week in practice.
Brock Bowers, TE, Las Vegas Raiders
Brock Bowers has played through a knee injury for most of the 2025 season. Unfortunately, the veteran tight end suffered a setback during practice before Week 5’s matchup against the Colts that landed him on the inactive list.
Making matters worse, head coach Pete Carroll stated that Bowers should be considered “week-to-week” in the future. That designation seriously jeopardizes Bowers’ status in Week 6.
Veteran tight end Michael Mayer missed Week 5 recovering from a concussion, but is set to see a much larger role than expected if he’s active in Week 6.
