The New York Giants enter Week 15 following their bye week, which came after a Monday Night Football loss to the New England Patriots. Tyrone Tracy Jr. left that game with a hip injury and had to be carted off the field. Will fantasy football managers have the sophomore running back available for the fantasy playoffs?
Tyrone Tracy Jr. Injury Update
Tracy left the Giants’ Week 13 Monday night game against the Patriots in the fourth quarter after being hit and driven into the turf on what looked like a routine run. The injury occurred with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the contest. He stayed down while trainers attended to him, and it quickly became apparent this was not a minor issue.
Tracy struggled to put weight on his left leg as he was assisted off the field. He was taken to the medical tent for evaluation before being carted to the locker room. The team listed him as questionable to return with a left hip injury, but it was quite clear he was not coming back.
Tracy said Tuesday following the game that he suffered a hip contusion/stinger during the loss and expects to be fine. The good news from Tracy himself suggests the injury is not as serious as the visuals indicated. A hip contusion is significantly better than many of the potential diagnoses that were feared when he was carted off.
The Giants were on bye in Week 14, which gave Tracy a full week of recovery without missing an actual game. Yet, based on Tracy’s own comments, it sounds as if he would’ve had a chance to play had the Giants not had a bye. We’ll know more when the Giants practice on Wednesday, but fantasy managers should expect Tracy to play this week.
The Giants are playing out a lost season but still want to evaluate their young talent. Tracy has been part of their rotation alongside Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary. If he can play, he probably will, as the coaching staff wants to assess what they have for the future.
Tracy’s Fantasy Outlook
Tracy concluded the contest with 10 carries for 36 yards against New England. He also caught one pass for minus-3 yards. Before the injury, Tracy had been one of the bright spots in an otherwise dismal Giants season.
If Tracy is unable to play, Devin Singletary will be the lead back and will probably see significant volume. The future of the Giants backfield is Skattebo as the lead back and Tracy as the change-of-pace guy next season. The Giants have no reason to hold back on Singletary’s usage in the meantime.

Singletary stepped into the lead role after Tracy exited Monday night. The veteran handled all of the work in the Giants’ backfield to close the contest, demonstrating he can absorb a full workload if needed.
However, Tracy’s comments about being fine suggest he should be available for Week 15. The hip contusion diagnosis is manageable, and the bye week provided extra time for the injury to heal. Fantasy managers should monitor Wednesday’s practice report for confirmation of his status.
Even if Tracy plays, his role in the offense remains uncertain given the Giants’ rotation at running back. New York has utilized a committee approach throughout the season, with Tracy, Skattebo, and Singletary all seeing varying touches depending on game flow.
The Giants face Washington, Minnesota, and Las Vegas to close the fantasy season. Tracy could provide volume-based RB2/flex value if he’s healthy and maintains a significant role in the rotation.
