Should You Start Green Bay Packers WRs Romeo Doubs or Christian Watson in Fantasy Football Week 12?

The Packers continue to rotate WRs in a frustrating manner. Can fantasy managers start Romeo Doubs or Christian Watson in Week 12?

Green Bay’s receiving corps continues establishing a clearer hierarchy as Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson separate themselves from the rotation. Both receivers enter Week 12 with distinct roles following productive performances against the Giants. Can fantasy football managers trust either Packers receiver this week?

Romeo Doubs Fantasy Outlook

After a dismal showing against the Eagles, Doubs reasserted himself as Jordan Love’s favorite target last week. He hauled in four passes for 53 yards in what was a respectable showing for fantasy managers, though it should have been much better. Two brutal drops in the first half cost him additional production against New York.

Playing 76% of the snaps, Doubs established himself far ahead of every wide receiver other than Watson. He appears to be further separating himself from the frustrating rotation that has plagued Green Bay’s receiving corps all season.

Even though Doubs may be leading the Packers in snap share, his consistent involvement creates a stable floor for fantasy purposes. The primary wide receiver for Love is Doubs, who commands the highest target share among the group. When the Packers need to move the chains, Love looks his way first.

Doubs’ role remains secure regardless of game script. He and Watson appear to be transcending the wide receiver rotation, with Dontayvion Wicks and Matthew Golden left to rotate in behind them. This separation provides fantasy managers with confidence about weekly deployment.

Christian Watson Fantasy Outlook

Watson is establishing himself as a legitimate option despite limited target volume. He looks as healthy as ever and was right up there with Doubs, playing 78% of the snaps. Watson led all Packers receivers in snap count for the second consecutive week.

His breakout game for fantasy purposes saw him post over 20 fantasy points against the Giants. However, nothing about his usage really changed from previous weeks. Watson just happened to catch two high-degree-of-difficulty touchdowns, demonstrating his red zone prowess.

The big plays masked the underlying target concerns. Watson has now seen 17 targets over his four games back from injury and hasn’t caught more than four passes in a game. Love wants to throw the ball downfield, and his main target for those opportunities is Watson.

Watson is an excellent downfield threat, but he really relies on the deep ball or touchdowns to produce fantasy points. The two scores against New York marked his first touchdowns since Week 6 of last year, snapping a 13-game scoreless streak. Without finding the end zone, Watson’s fantasy production suffers dramatically.

Should You Start Doubs or Watson This Week?

Both receivers have proven themselves fantasy relevant and deserve to be on rosters with lineup consideration. The problem is the Packers’ run-heavy ways that limit Love’s pass attempts. Even with Josh Jacobs set to miss this week’s game due to injury, expect Green Bay to run the ball with Emanuel Wilson.

The Packers did exactly that last week with no issue, limiting Love to just 24 pass attempts. As six-point home favorites over the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay is unlikely to need to throw the ball extensively. The game script projects negatively for receiving production across the board.

Even when the Packers do throw, the Vikings allow the sixth-fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points per game to wide receivers. Minnesota’s aggressive defense blitzes at the highest rate in the league while generating the second-highest pressure rate per dropback. This creates difficult conditions for Love and his receivers.

The Vikings’ defense presents a tough matchup that relegates both Doubs and Watson to uninspiring Flex options. Doubs offers the safer floor through his target volume and route participation, while Watson provides boom potential if he finds the end zone again. Neither qualifies as a confident start unless facing desperate roster constraints in Week 12.
