Rhamondre Stevenson Fantasy Projection 2026: Is the Patriots RB Undervalued?

Rhamondre Stevenson finished as the RB21 and is going as the RB28. Why the fantasy community is wrong to fade the Patriots back in 2026.

Rhamondre Stevenson enters 2026 as the forgotten man in his own backfield, overshadowed by a flashy young runner and a wave of hype pointed in the other direction.

The fantasy community has largely moved on, treating him as a soon-to-be-replaced veteran rather than the back who just closed out a Super Bowl run. His price has fallen accordingly. Should fantasy football managers pounce on Stevenson in 2026, or is the market right to fade him?

Should You Draft Rhamondre Stevenson in Fantasy Football?

Stevenson is heading into his sixth NFL season, and last year was a genuine bounce-back after a rough 2024. He rushed for 603 yards and seven touchdowns, added 32 catches for 345 yards and two more scores, and finished as the RB21 while averaging 12.8 fantasy points per game. Those totals are not going to jump off the page, but they came in just 14 games and, more importantly, they undersell how well he actually played.

Here is what gets lost in the shuffle. Stevenson was not some volume back, stumbling backward into fantasy points. He was one of the most efficient runners in the entire league. His 5.9 yards per touch ranked third in the league.

His 3.75 yards created per touch ranked ninth. His 1.07 fantasy points per opportunity ranked fourth. Sprinkle in a steady 9.5% target share, and you have a runner who contributes on passing downs and makes something happen nearly every time he gets a touch.

The one blemish on his profile has always been ball security. Stevenson led all running backs in fumbles in 2024, and the problem resurfaced last season early on, almost costing him his job. To his credit, he largely cleaned it up after that, which is a big reason the coaching staff felt comfortable leaning on him even more once the games started to really matter.

Stevenson’s Redraft Fantasy Football Value

The case for Stevenson is really a case about trust and role, and both point squarely in his favor. Yes, TreVeyon Henderson is the more explosive player and the far more exciting name. Fantasy managers love the new hotness even when the guy he’s replacing isn’t exactly old and busted. But when New England reached the postseason, it was the veteran who shouldered the backfield, not the rookie.

The playoff usage was nowhere near. Across the Patriots’ four postseason games, Stevenson played 65%, 59%, 93%, and 63% of the snaps while scoring 15.8, 12.1, 7.1, and 17.3 fantasy points. Henderson, by contrast, was an afterthought in every one of them. His snap shares were at 38%, 40%, 7%, and 40%, resulting in 4.6, 3.3, 0.5, and 7.5 fantasy points.

A coaching staff that just went to a Super Bowl told us in the clearest possible terms which back it believes in. That trust matters enormously in a backfield that actually produces.

New England finished sixth in the NFL in rushing yards per game last season, so the touches here are well worth chasing. Stevenson’s ADP sits at just RB28, which is remarkably cheap for a back coming off an RB21 finish who remains the clear lead option on a strong rushing team in an offense that should be even better than it was last year with weapons like A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs added to the fold.

I am not going to pretend the Henderson risk does not exist, because it absolutely does. Henderson is talented enough to carve out a bigger slice this year, and there is always a chance he eventually seizes the job outright. That is the bear case, and it is a fair one.

What I feel strongly about, though, is that Stevenson is highly unlikely to lose his role entirely. He is too efficient, too trusted, and too involved in the passing game for that to happen. At an RB28 price, you are buying a back with a rock-solid floor and almost no realistic path to being a true bust.

That is why I have Stevenson at RB25, ranked ahead of Henderson and comfortably above his ADP. The fantasy community is telling me I can draft the starting running back for a team that just went to the Super Bowl after his backup? Sign me up.
