NFL Schedule Release: Fantasy Football Impact on Bijan Robinson, Emeka Egbuka, and The NFC South

The NFC South isn't short on fantasy football talent and with the schedule now in hand, a few are in position to peak at the prefect time.

East Coast people know. There is no feeling like a random warm day in February. It’s enough to provide you with hope that better days are ahead, and we got the fantasy football version of that with the NFL schedule being released.

Now that we know who is playing whom and when, we have new data to analyze and projections to run. In terms of the NFC South, some big-name players picked up value in sneaky ways while others lost some steam.

How the 2026 NFL Schedule Release Impacts NFC South Fantasy Football

Carolina Panthers Fantasy Football Schedule Analysis

The defending champions of the South aren’t exactly loaded with fantasy options, but the members of this team that do matter got a nice little boost from the schedule makers.

Carolina has one game in the second half of the season that projects as a potential weather issue (at Pittsburgh in Week 16) thanks to the front-loading of road meetings with the Browns, Eagles, and Packers.

Bryce Young’s TD:INT rate and completion percentage have been better at home than on the road during each season of his career, thus giving him some QB2 appeal with three of the final four games during the fantasy season coming in front of Panther Nation (including a Week 15 date with the Bengals, an opponent that is always fun to have access to during the fantasy playoffs).

I don’t mind the early bye for a team built like this. They had a Week 14 bye in 2025, and Young was running on fumes a bit (under 210 passing yards in the final five games of the fantasy season), so I’m hopeful that the early reset can help Tetairoa McMillan return solid WR2 value in his second season.

Chuba Hubbard didn’t have a 15-yard run last season, and while he has a bellcow role, I’m in no hurry drafting him as an RB2 in 2026. The volume is at risk of being empty, and even if he can pay off his draft capital in the first half of the season, games against the Steelers and Seahawks as the fantasy season comes to a close are tough to get excited about.

He’s hanging on to low-end RB2 value in my current rankings, but if we get positive health updates on Quinshon Judkins, Cam Skattebo, and/or Zach Charbonnet, that could change as the offseason wears on.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fantasy Football Outlook

I don’t love losing the second Saints game (Week 18), but with just one game post-bye (Week 14 at Ravens) that has any sort of weather risk, I can’t complain too much.

Emeka Egbuka’s production fell off a cliff after a hot start to his NFL career: I think we can chalk that up to the sport catching up to him. We are talking about a matchup nightmare with capable play under center and a more fantasy-friendly role with Mike Evans out of town.

There is very little that is intimidating about this schedule, and that should allow Bucky Irving to find the form we saw from him (and this run game as a whole) before injuries set in last season. Tampa Bay opens the season with the Bengals and gets the Panthers, Falcons, and Bears in succession heading into their bye.

I’ve got Egbuka and Irving ranked as weekly starters, and thanks to a favorable schedule, I’m cautiously optimistic that a third flex player (be it Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, or Kenneth Gainwell) will emerge with time.

I have Irving ranked as a top-15 player at the position, and I fully envision me being higher than consensus on him throughout the summer: plug in his name into our FREE Trade Calculator and you may be able to take advantage of leaguemates who are worried about some of the 2025 metrics.

Atlanta Falcons Fantasy Football Projections

For our purposes, the Falcons are a pretty straightforward team. They got a pair of foundational pieces (Bijan Robinson and Drake London), a maddening option that ranks as a starter that comes with week-to-week risk (Kyle Pitts), and nothing else.

In theory, if Michael Penix or Tua Tagovailoa were to overachieve, maybe a secondary receiver (Jahan Dotson, Olamide Zaccheaus, or third-round rookie Zachariah Branch) moves into the streamer conversation, but that’s very much a reactive, not proactive, situation.

London’s 31.8 PPR points in Week 6 against the Bills last season was the most by a WR the week following their bye. He’s a special talent that can execute at a high level when the play under center is viable. We may get moments of that this season, but their schedule doesn’t have any extended runs of matchups that grade as advantageous, leading me to believe that the London rollercoaster could be bumpy, even if I like him as a top-10 performer at the position.

The schedule is a minor step backward (they lose a Panthers game due to it coming in Week 18 and have a pair of December games at weather risk), but this is a pretty simple evaluation, and the two stars still carry high-end upside.

New Orleans Saints Fantasy Football Schedule Breakdown

Divisional games in the NFC South are gold, and that always makes these teams interesting late in the season. New Orleans gets Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta all on the road over the final month of the fantasy season (Weeks 14-17), a stretch that should allow a young nucleus to thrive.

Tyler Shough is in a better position to post strong counting numbers than most realize. Travis Etienne adds versatility and explosive potential to a backfield that lacked it last season, and Jordyn Tyson is far more capable than any WR2 that was on this roster by the end of 2025.

Sometimes rookies, even the high-pedigree ones, take time to get comfortable with the speed of the professional game, but with a soft opening schedule and a defined role, Tyson is my top-ranked redraft rookie WR this season.

  • Week 1 at Lions
  • Week 2 at Ravens
  • Week 3 vs. Raiders
  • Week 4 at Falcons

Tyson ranks as a top-35 receiver for me this season, checking in ahead of veterans like DK Metcalf and Courtland Sutton that hold much more name value.
