The NFL season is in full swing. As happens every year, injuries are rearing their ugly heads. As fantasy football managers prepare to set Week 13 lineups, it’s important to stay informed on the latest injury news. Marvin Harrison Jr. returned to practice this week after missing time due to injury. What is his current status and outlook for this week?
Is Marvin Harrison Jr. Playing Week 13?
Update:Â Harrison is ACTIVE
Harrison underwent an emergency appendectomy following Arizona’s Week 10 defeat to Seattle. The sudden nature of the medical issue caught everyone off guard, as there were no preceding indications Harrison was dealing with any health concerns. The procedure forced him out of the Cardinals’ Week 11 contest against San Francisco immediately.
Appendicitis surgery typically necessitates a recovery period ranging from two to four weeks, depending on the type of procedure performed and how quickly an individual heals. Arizona has taken a cautious approach with their young star, prioritizing long-term health over rushing him back prematurely.
Harrison was ruled out again for Week 12 against Jacksonville. Head coach Jonathan Gannon offered minimal details about Harrison’s status on Monday, simply stating that when Harrison is physically and mentally ready to play, he will take the field. This vague assessment left fantasy managers uncertain about the timeline for his return.
However, Harrison returned to practice on Wednesday. This represented a significant step forward in his recovery process. While his return to practice did not guarantee he would suit up Sunday, it certainly put him on track to potentially play against Tampa Bay.
Harrison was limited at practice all three days this week and is listed as questionable on the final injury report. It’s tough to fully gauge Harrison’s status given the unique nature of recovering from surgery rather than a traditional injury.
Harrison did speak to reporters this week. Players that aren’t playing typically don’t speak to the media, making his availability a positive indicator. He appeared in good spirits and mentioned that he’s excited to get back out there with Jacoby Brissett.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Harrison was moving around well during practice sessions. Everything from Cardinals camp has been positive surrounding Harrison’s status. The coaching staff has expressed confidence in his progression throughout the week.
Despite being a west coast team, fantasy managers catch a break this week with the Cardinals playing in Tampa. We will know Harrison’s status at 11:30 AM EST when inactives are announced.
On Saturday night, Adam Schefter reported that Harrison is expected to play.
Harrison’s Fantasy Football Outlook
Surgery for appendicitis kept Harrison out of Week 11’s loss and the team wasted no time in ruling him out ahead of Week 12, signs that aren’t great as we try to read the tea leaves about his status moving forward.
This is a team going nowhere that now might think they have a formidable three-headed pass catching monster given what Michael Wilson has shown over these past two weeks (25 catches on 33 targets for 303 yards). Why push things for a 3-8 team?

Their three primary pass catchers are all under contract for at least one more year, making this offense even more appealing in 2026. Unless the reporting shifts in a major way, I’m going to need to see Harrison on the field for a game before putting him near my starting lineup during the most important month of the season.
The same logic applies to Wilson, by the way: I won’t start fearing his volume until we get signs on the field of play that Harrison is close to full strength.
