Jayden Daniels’ fantasy football managers held their breath again in Week 14, as the Commanders quarterback’s return didn’t go quite as planned. After missing several weeks rehabbing a prior injury, his comeback was cut short in a surprising fashion.
Head coach Dan Quinn’s postgame comments only added to the mystery surrounding Daniels’ status moving forward. Now, fantasy lineups hang in the balance as everyone waits to see if he’ll be back under center in Week 15.
Jayden Daniels Injury Update
Jayden Daniels returned to the field for the Washington Commanders in Week 14 after suffering a dislocated left elbow in Week 9. Unfortunately, his return against the Minnesota Vikings lasted just 39 snaps before he landed on the elbow chasing down an interception return.
Head coach Dan Quinn stated after the game that Daniels could have returned to action, but ultimately didn’t because of the head coach’s decision and a big deficit on the scoreboard. He did not mention anything regarding Daniels’ availability in Week 15.
Daniels did not suffer any structural damage to his elbow in Week 14, but doctors did advise that the second-year quarterback not play in Week 15. Marcus Mariota will be the starter for the Commanders once again against the New York Giants.

Daniels Fantasy Outlook
Jayden Daniels left Sunday’s blowout loss with a non-throwing elbow injury, but we had seen enough prior to the early departure (nine-of-20 for 78 yards and an interception) to know that this wasn’t set to be a good day at the office against the aggressive Vikings.
Should he take another snap this season?
My answer would be no, but I’m not making that call. I’d be surprised if he suited up this week, and my ranking of him down the stretch of 2025 will fully hinge on just how healthy he appears to be.Â
When it comes to the long-term conversation, I still think we are looking at a player with Tier 1 potential, even if this season hasn’t done much to reinforce that opinion. He’ll be an interesting ADP dropper to track in August: I could see him projecting well at cost if there is lasting concern for his playing style and an increased desire to wait on the position after some of the big names have struggled to pay off their draft day price tags.
