San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings finds himself in a frustrating position that has fantasy football managers questioning his reliability heading into Week 6. The talented wideout has been dealing with a nagging issue that forced him to miss the crucial divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, despite his own optimism about returning.
What makes his situation particularly concerning for fantasy owners is the uncertainty surrounding the exact nature of his ailment. Still, Jennings had shown flashes of his potential earlier this season, particularly in a standout performance against New Orleans. His recent absence, though, has left managers scrambling for alternatives.
Jauan Jennings Injury Update
Like 49ers receiver Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings missed Week 5’s game against the Los Angeles Rams due to an injury suffered in Week 4.
Jennings initially stated that he was confident that he would be able to play in Week 5, which could put him closer to being active next week. Still, Jennings wasn’t helped by playing a Thursday game four days after suffering his rib injury.

Jennings Fantasy Outlook
Jennings has now missed two games this season, and the fact that they can’t decide on a single injury to list (ribs/ankle) is disconcerting, to say the least.
He had the big game against the lowly Saints in Week 2 (89 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets), but he didn’t finish among the top 50 receivers in either of his other games this season and seems to be the lower upside option when compared to Ricky Pearsall.

I’m cautiously optimistic that he plays for the ‘Niners this week after a long week of prep, but I’m actively looking for other options, and I expect that to be the case moving forward, with TE George Kittle targeting next week as his return to the field.
Jennings is a talented player who will boost this offense, but I’m stopping well short of labeling him a reliable fantasy contributor.
