Is Harold Fannin Jr. Playing Week 10?

Update: Fannin is ACTIVE

Fannin’s injury status has followed an unusual pattern this week. He wasn’t listed on the injury report Wednesday, indicating he practiced without any apparent issues or limitations.

Thursday brought a surprising development. Fannin did not practice at all, appearing on the injury report with a hamstring issue. The sudden DNP after practicing Wednesday raised immediate concerns.

Friday provided some clarity. Fannin returned to practice in a limited capacity. The hamstring issue explains his Thursday absence and creates questions about when exactly the injury occurred.

The timeline suggests the injury happened either at the very end of Wednesday’s practice or before Thursday’s practice. Otherwise, he would’ve been limited on one of those two days rather than going from full participation Wednesday to complete absence Thursday.

The Thursday DNP is concerning. Complete absence from practice after being healthy the day before typically indicates something happened that required immediate attention. Hamstring injuries can be tricky. Even minor strains need careful management to prevent them from becoming multi-week problems.

However, the fact that Fannin was able to return to practice on Friday is encouraging. If the hamstring were seriously strained, the medical staff likely wouldn’t have cleared him for even limited work Friday.

Fannin is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, and his status is truly up in the air. The questionable designation accurately reflects genuine uncertainty about his availability. He could play through the hamstring discomfort, or the Browns could hold him out as a precautionary measure to prevent aggravation.

Fortunately, the Browns play at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday. His status will be known approximately 90 minutes before kickoff, giving fantasy managers time to adjust their lineups if necessary. Unlike players in late afternoon or evening games, there’s no risk of being caught off-guard by a last-minute inactive designation.

Fantasy managers should have backup plans ready. Monitor pregame reports closely for any indication about Fannin’s status. Even if he’s active, there remains the question of whether he’ll be limited in his role or playing through discomfort that could hamper his effectiveness.

Fannin’s Fantasy Football Outlook

Fannin found the end zone in Week 8 against the Patriots prior to the bye and has now caught at least four passes in each of Cleveland’s past four games.

It should be noted that David Njoku has been battling a knee injury for the majority of that run, and with a week off, the veteran TE should be in as good of shape this week as he was at any point in October.

That’s why I think this is a hinge game for the rest of the season. Do the Browns prioritize the 21-year-old tight end? If so, he’s a top-10 tight end for the remainder of the season. I’ll rank him as such starting next week should we see him dominate the snap share over a healthy Njoku, but I need to see it before projecting as much.

I have Fannin over Njoku this week, but both are just outside of my top 15 at the position for Week 10.
