Injuries continue to ravage the top-end wide receivers in fantasy football this season. Week 6 featured injuries for Puka Nacua, Garrett Wilson, Emeka Egbuka, and others. Below is a breakdown of all the injuries that have, or will, have a fantasy impact in Week 7 and beyond.
Emari Demercado, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Emari Demercado was in a three-way backfield split with Michael Carter and Bam Knight in Week 6 before suffering an ankle injury in the second quarter. Demercado did not return to the game.
The Cardinals have a bye in Week 8, so there is a chance that Demercado will be held out of Week 7’s matchup against the Packers. If that happens, Carter and Knight will lead Arizona’s backfield in a difficult matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Puka Nacua suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of the Rams’ win over the Baltimore Ravens. Nacua was able to return to the game but did not receive a single target once he made his way back onto the field.
It seems like Nacua dodged a significant injury, but his status for Week 7 is doubtful.
#Rams WR Puka Nacua, the NFL’s leader in catches, suffered an ankle sprain that will likely cause him to miss time, per me and @MikeGarafolo.
It would make sense for Nacua to be out next week against the #Jaguars, then LAR has a bye to regroup and assess. pic.twitter.com/6e8EaBpe9m

Replacing Nacua’s 23.1 PPR points per game is impossible, but Davante Adams is the apparent winner if Nacua cannot suit up in Week 7. Still, Jordan Whittington becomes interesting as a dart throw as well. If Tutu Atwell is healthy (he missed Week 6’s game with a hamstring injury), he would also be on the fantasy radar.
Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets
Garrett Wilson suffered a knee injury late in the Jets’ loss to the Denver Broncos. Early indications are that Wilson dodged any significant injuries to his knee, but the expectation is that he could “miss time” because of the injury.
There aren’t any clear winners in the passing attack if Wilson misses time, but Josh Reynolds (three receptions for 25 yards) was the leading receiver against the Broncos, so he could have some FLEX value.
Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Arizona Cardinals
Marvin Harrison Jr. suffered a concussion on his second catch of the game against the Colts in Week 6, ending his day with two receptions for 32 yards.
Concussions typically lead to at least one missed game, but Harrison’s practice participation will tell the whole story of his availability in Week 7. The Cardinals have their bye week in Week 8, so they could hold the second-year receiver out to be extra careful.
If Harrison misses Week 7, Michael Wilson and Zay Jones will be the winners in two-receiver sets. Jones (five receptions for 79 yards) was the clear winner over Wilson (four for 44 yards) against the Colts.
Emeka Egbuka, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers’ passing attack took another significant hit in Week 6 when Emeka Egbuka missed most of the second half with a hamstring injury. The initial belief was that the injury was not serious, but would require the rookie to miss time.
The Buccaneers have already announced that Chris Godwin will be out for Week 7 due to a fibula injury. They are hoping that Mike Evans will be able to return to the field after missing several weeks with a hamstring injury.
Even if Evans does return, rookie Tez Johnson (21) and veteran Sterling Shepard (20) led the Buccaneers in routes run on Sunday. Both players would be interesting waiver options, potentially assuming massive roles with Godwin, Evans, and Egbuka off the field.
Calvin Ridley, WR, Tennessee Titans
Calvin Ridley suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter of the Titans’ loss to the Raiders. It is unclear at this point how severe that injury was.
There could potentially be a lot of changes with the Titans after the team fired their head coach, Brian Callahan, on Monday. In Week 6, the biggest winner from Ridley’s injury was veteran receiver Van Jefferson (four receptions for 75 yards).
Time will tell if Jefferson or rookie Elic Ayomanor will see an increased workload if Ridley misses a significant amount of time.
David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns
David Njoku missed most of the second half of Cleveland’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His absence allowed rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. to have the best game of his young career. Fannin caught seven of 10 targets for 81 yards.
Fannin becomes a priority waiver wire target after Njoku is injured. The rookie has had a consistent role in his first season (6.3 targets, 4.7 receptions, 42.3 receiving yards per game) and should remain on the roster regardless of Njoku’s long-term status.
