Puka Nacua
An ankle injury cost Puka Nacua the game in London prior to the Week 8 bye and that’s been about the only thing that has slowed him down this year.
He finished each of the first five weeks as a top-6 performer at the position or better, pacing for 177 catches and a tick under 2,000 receiving yards. He’s remained just as efficient as he was a year ago despite a 13.8% spike in average depth of target (aDOT), something only the very best in this game are capable of accomplishing.
For most players, electing to take a patient approach on the return path from injury is the play, but Nacua isn’t “most players”. He’s a threat to lead all flex players in PPR points moving forward and with no real weather concerns for the rest of the season, it’s hard to imagine Nacua being anything other than a true game-changer.
Is he the top overall player selected in redraft leagues for 2026?
Brock Bowers
The knee injury has limited Brock Bowers in a massive way and fantasy managers have had to work without their TE1 for three games this season (not to mention the three underwhelming performances that came prior to admitting that rest was the first step of the recovery process).
In Week 1 (5-103-0 on a 24.2% target share), we got what we thought was going to be the norm: Bowers distancing himself from everyone else at the position. The hope is that version is back on the field for the stretch run, though there is no denying the risk that comes with a young asset like this, a player who the franchise is incentivized to take a cautious approach with.
The struggles of Geno Smith are also a mitigating factor, though it’s not as if the Raiders were a lights out offense a year ago when Bowers impressed as a rookie. The success of Michael Mayer is more of a concern for me: not that he’ll take over the TE1 duties in Vegas, but that he has the potential to take food off the plate of Bowers.
Regardless, the position has proven to once again be the thinnest in our game and that makes him a lineup lock any week in which he is active.
