De’Von Achane’s latest setback sent a ripple through the fantasy football world, leaving managers anxiously refreshing their injury updates. The Miami Dolphins’ explosive rookie left Sunday’s win over the New York Jets after a play that looked far more concerning than it turned out to be.
While official reports from the team have been measured, there’s already a quiet confidence that this won’t be a lingering issue. Still, as Miami prepares for a primetime matchup against Pittsburgh, all eyes will be on Achane’s practice reps — and whether fantasy managers can safely trust him in lineups once again.
De’Von Achane Injury Update
De’Von Achane suffered a rib injury when he fell on top of the football in the second quarter of the Miami Dolphins’ victory over the New York Jets in Week 14. Initial scans showed that Achane did not suffer a significant injury. After the game, head coach Mike McDaniel stated that Achane was held out as a precaution, given the Dolphins’ substantial lead.
Achane will likely be limited in practice throughout the week, but will benefit from an extra day of rest with the Dolphins set to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. Jaylen Wright (24 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown) was the lead back with Achane sidelined and is worth a speculative add.

Achane Fantasy Outlook
Reports out of Miami suggest that De’Von Achane wanted to return last week, and that’s been backed up thus far, leading me to believe the ribs situation is a thing of the past.
Use that as your weekly reminder that these are built a little differently than we mere mortals are. Three years ago, I took a charge in a basketball game (called a block, but that’s an argument for another day), broke two ribs, and was sidelined for three months. I couldn’t sleep right, and breathing wasn’t exactly comfortable.

Achane gets dinged up and wants to return to the game.
All of that is to say that I’m weak and Achane should be viewed as he is every week: one of the five best in the game with slate-breaking upside every week. The Steelers slowed a predictable Derrick Henry last week, but James Cook and Chase Brown both cleared 18 PPR points against them thanks to the pressure they create, something that I very much expect Achane to replicate in this spot.
He might be in the 1.01 conversation this summer.
