Is Davante Adams Playing Week 11?

Adams exited during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 42-26 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The Rams initially listed him with a back injury and marked him as questionable to return, though he did not re-enter the game.

Head coach Sean McVay clarified after the game that Adams actually suffered an oblique injury. Adams described the injury himself as “my side oblique area, whatever. I’m not too good at anatomy, and biology, and all that. So, I don’t want to mislabel it, but whatever’s on this side below my ribs. Muscular situation”.

Adams told reporters the injury was “biting” during the game but added, “It’s feeling better now. We’ll see how it feels next week”.

McVay is historically very truthful and forthcoming when it comes to injuries. He said Adams could’ve gone back in the game if it was necessary. “I think he probably could have been able to come back in if it was a little bit closer. Kind of similar to Puka last week,” McVay told reporters.

Adams did not practice on Wednesday, which was expected given his veteran status. However, McVay maintained confidence throughout the week that Adams should be good to go for Sunday’s critical divisional showdown.

Adams returned to practice Thursday in a limited capacity. He was in pads and warming up before Thursday’s practice session, demonstrating meaningful progress in his recovery. The veteran receiver continued his limited participation Friday and drew a questionable tag.

Adams addressed his status ahead of the Week 11 matchup, providing an encouraging update on his condition. According to Adam Grosbard, Adams said regarding whether he’ll be limited against Seattle: “I’ll be same old G out there. It shouldn’t really change anything, it’s just more of like what I can deal, the comfort. Before it was kind of more debilitating. … It’s come a long way”.

The progression from DNP on Wednesday to limited participation Thursday and Friday follows a familiar pattern for veteran players managing minor injuries. Adams finished Sunday’s game with six receptions for 77 yards and one touchdown before exiting. He has 42 receptions for 568 yards and nine touchdowns this season, leading the league in touchdown receptions.

Fantasy managers should fully expect Adams to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. McVay’s consistent optimism throughout the week combined with Adams’ return to practice and his own positive assessment of his condition all point toward him being active for the crucial NFC West matchup.

The matchup against Seattle in Week 11 represents a critical divisional game, as the 7-2 Rams face the 7-2 Seahawks in a contest that could have significant playoff implications. Adams has been durable during his career, playing in at least 14 games in each of the last five seasons.

McVay praised Adams’ recent play earlier in the week, saying “I think he’s playing as really his best ball. He’s just getting better and better. He’s like a fine wine; just getting better with age.”

Adams’ Fantasy Football Outlook

An oblique injury kept Adams on the sideline down the stretch of last week’s dominating win, but all seems to be fine for the veteran receiver and that means you’re starting him without a second thought, even in a tough matchup.

Since 2015, 678 players have earned at least 50 targets through the first 10 weeks of a season, and here are the players on that list who have seen at least 20% of those looks come in the end zone.

2019 DK Metcalf: 23.4%

2025 Adams: 21.8%

2018 Marvin Jones: 21%

2020 Adam Thielen: 20%

2018 Eric Ebron: 20%

2016 Dez Bryant: 20%

That’s a pretty eclectic list, and one that was fun to dig up for those who have been involved in this game for the past decade.

Adams will tie a career high for end zone targets in a season with his next one, something that feels insane for a player nearing his 33rd birthday who plays alongside maybe the best receiver in the sport.

For other players, I’d worry about the sustainability of this profile, especially with Kyren Williams more than capable of finishing drives, but Adams is a unique case.

He’s been a near lock for eight targets per game this season, with multiple end zone looks more likely than not. This is a matchup-proof player that has more reward potential than risk: he’s locked in as a top 15 option at the position every single week.
