Is D’Andre Swift Playing Tonight?

Update: Swift is ACTIVE

Swift has spent most of the season appearing on the injury report in one form or another, yet he has almost always suited up on game day. He has missed just one game this season, routinely managing minor issues during the practice week before being cleared to play. The latest concern is a groin injury that popped up in the middle of the week.

The more notable detail is that Swift was not on the injury report on Tuesday, which strongly suggests the groin problem cropped up during Wednesday’s practice rather than being a lingering issue carried over from the previous game. Swift was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. That timing introduces a bit more uncertainty, as midweek additions to the injury report often indicate something that happened during practice.

Swift practiced on Thursday, which is an encouraging sign. The fact that he was able to log a limited session suggests the groin issue has not worsened and the team is comfortable with his progression. Swift was listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report.

The Bears are already down Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. Chicago cannot afford to lose anyone else heading into this matchup. This is a big game for the Bears as they fight to keep their division hopes alive.

Swift is definitely not 100%, but fantasy managers should expect him to play. The veteran running back has demonstrated all season that he can perform effectively while dealing with minor ailments. His ability to practice on Thursday after the Wednesday limited session follows the exact pattern of a player who will suit up on game day.

With the game carrying significant playoff implications for Chicago, the Bears need Swift on the field. Fantasy managers rostering Swift can confidently expect him to be active and handle his usual workload despite the questionable designation.

Swift’s Fantasy Football Outlook

Swift picked a heck of a time to record his first multi-TD game of the season, carrying 18 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns against the Browns last week.

The Kyle Monangai factor is real (43.8% snap share last week), but Swift had a six-yard TD on the second drive and, up to that point, he had accounted for every Bear rushing attempt.

This is a committee situation, though I do feel good about the hierarchy. Swift turned 16 touches into 82 yards against these Packers two weeks ago and he should be able to replicate that against a unit that is now adjusting to life with Micah Parsons.
