Dalton Kincaid Injury Update: Will Fantasy Managers Get the Bills TE Back Week 8?

Dalton Kincaid did not play two weeks ago with an oblique injury. With the bye week to rest, will fantasy managers have the Bills TE's services this week?

The Buffalo Bills are coming off their bye week riding a two-game losing streak, and much of their offensive struggles can be traced to missing key pieces. Dalton Kincaid Injury Update

Kincaid suffered an oblique injury that first appeared on Buffalo’s practice reports ahead of Week 5. The tight end managed to play through the oblique issue during Week 5’s loss to New England despite being limited in practice. His performance that week was nothing short of spectacular, hauling in six catches for 108 yards on six targets, posting his best receiving output of the season.

However, the injury worsened enough by Week 6 that Buffalo made the decision to sit him against Atlanta, marking his first missed game of the season. The Bills’ cautious approach with their first-round pick proved strategic, as they entered their bye week immediately after the Monday night loss.

Head coach Sean McDermott labeled Kincaid as “day-to-day” following the bye week, indicating the injury isn’t considered serious long-term. The timing of Buffalo’s Week 7 bye provides Kincaid with two full weeks of rest and recovery, which sources close to the team suggest should be sufficient for the oblique to heal properly.

The extended timeline has allowed Kincaid to focus entirely on rehabilitation without the pressure of preparing for game action. Oblique injuries can be particularly tricky for receivers and tight ends, as they affect the core muscles essential for route running and catching passes in traffic.

Buffalo’s first practice of the week is Wednesday, and Kincaid’s participation level will serve as the primary indicator for his Week 8 availability. Limited participation would represent significant progress from where he stood two weeks ago, while full participation would virtually guarantee his return to action.

Kincaid Fantasy Football Outlook

Kincaid has emerged as Buffalo’s most reliable receiving weapon through the first five weeks of the season. The 26-year-old leads the team with 20 receptions for 287 yards and three touchdowns on 24 targets, averaging an impressive 14.4 yards per reception.

His statistical breakdown shows remarkable consistency when healthy. Kincaid posted double-digit fantasy points in four of his five games, including explosive performances against Baltimore (14.8 points) and Miami (17.6 points). His touchdown against New Orleans came on a spectacular 28-yard reception, showcasing his big-play ability.

The absence of Kincaid was immediately felt during Buffalo’s offensive struggles against Atlanta, where the Bills managed just 14 points in their second consecutive loss. Backup Dawson Knox caught just one pass for a touchdown on two targets, highlighting the significant drop-off without Kincaid in the lineup.

Josh Allen clearly trusts his emerging tight end, targeting him on 22% of his routes while utilizing him in multiple formations throughout the offense. Kincaid has been a top 10 tight end in three of five weeks and consistently finds himself in favorable coverage situations.

The Panthers defense presents an excellent matchup opportunity for Kincaid’s return. Carolina has struggled to contain tight ends this season, allowing significant fantasy production to the position. This vulnerability creates an ideal scenario for Kincaid to make an immediate impact upon his return.

With six highly relevant fantasy teams on bye during Week 8, the tight end position becomes particularly thin. The Cardinals, Lions, Jaguars, Raiders, Rams, and Seahawks all rest this week, removing several starting-caliber options from fantasy lineups.

Kincaid projects as a firm top 12 tight end option if he returns to action, combining his established role in Buffalo’s offense with a favorable matchup and reduced competition due to bye weeks. His consistent target share and red zone involvement make him an attractive play during this period of positional scarcity.
