The NFL season is nearing its end. As happens every year, injuries are rearing their ugly heads. As fantasy football managers prepare to set Week 15 lineups, it’s important to stay informed on the latest injury news. Christian McCaffrey was a late addition to the injury report. What is his current status and outlook for this week?
Is Christian McCaffrey Playing Week 15?
McCaffrey dealt with an illness earlier this week that was never a legitimate concern. The star running back was limited on Thursday due to the illness. He returned as a full participant on Friday and was not listed on the injury report.
However, the 49ers announced on Saturday that McCaffrey has been added to the injury report with a back issue. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Titans.
This development came as a surprise given that McCaffrey practiced in full on Friday. The timing is always scary when a player gets added to the injury report on Saturday, especially with McCaffrey given his injury history. This marks the first time since Week 1 that McCaffrey has an official injury designation leading up to a game.
However, this is not any sort of lower body injury. It is his back. The back designation sounds precautionary more than anything. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that McCaffrey is expected to be good to go.
McCaffrey has not missed a single game this season. The 29-year-old running back has played in every contest for San Francisco in 2025. He sits just 151 rushing yards away from his fifth career 1,000-yard rushing season with four regular season games remaining.
This was a scare for sure, but it sounds as if fantasy managers will have the best player in fantasy available in a dream matchup against the Titans.
McCaffrey’s Fantasy Football Outlook
It’s pretty hard to run for eight touchdowns in a season where you’re picking up just 3.6 yards per carry, but that’s where we are with McCaffrey.
He’s a special back that excels at making the most of the situation around him for fantasy purposes: this offensive line has given him no room to run, but it hasn’t stopped him from getting into the end zone lately (four rushing scores over his past three games).

Oh yea, and then there’s the fact that he has 4+ targets in every game this season and caught 29 of his 33 targets in November.
The knock on CMC coming into the season was his health risk. Well, he’s healthy and fresh off of a bye against one of the worst teams in the NFL: you’ve benefited all season for embracing the minor discount this summer and this is good a spot as you could ask for in the middle of December.
