Chris Godwin’s status has become one of the biggest fantasy football mysteries heading into Week 12. After showing signs of progress in practice, questions still linger about his readiness for game day. The Buccaneers appear cautious, leaving managers wondering what’s really holding him back.
Here’s the latest on Godwin’s situation and what it means for your fantasy roster.
Chris Godwin Injury Update
Godwin has not played since Week 5 with a fibula injury after missing the first three weeks working his way back from his 2024 ankle dislocation. Godwin logged limited practices for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11, but as mentioned earlier, the Buccaneers had walkthroughs all week.
Head coach Todd Bowles has said the plan is to ramp Godwin up this week, but there is no guarantee he will be active in Week 12.

Godwin Fantasy Outlook
You hate to see this.
Godwin had the brutal injury (fibula) late last season, and while he was healthy enough to return at the end of September, the injury has had him sidelined for the past month, and we could be looking at another few weeks before he trends close to playing.

With Mike Evans on the shelf and Bucky Irving banged up, there are targets to be had, but a 29-year-old receiver who is coming off a full year of battling this injury gives me little confidence.
If you have an IR roster slot that won’t be used elsewhere, I don’t mind keeping Godwin. Still, things seem to be trending in the wrong direction, especially for a team that very well could opt to ease him back when he is reasonably healthy in the hopes of having him close to full speed come the postseason.
