The NFL season is in full swing. As happens every year, injuries are rearing their ugly heads. As fantasy football managers prepare to set Week 8 lineups, it’s important to stay informed on the latest injury news. Breece Hall missed some practice time this week due to injury. What is his current status and outlook for this week?
Is Breece Hall Playing Week 8?
Hall sustained what was initially believed to be an ankle injury during last week’s loss to Carolina before further evaluation revealed it was a minor knee issue. The fourth-year running back was able to finish the game and has avoided any structural concerns that would suggest a long-term setback.
After being limited in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, Hall upgraded to full participation on Friday. He remains listed as questionable, but there’s strong confidence he will play after telling reporters earlier this week that he “feels good” and was “ready to go” heading into the weekend.
Head coach Aaron Glenn echoed that optimism on Friday, saying, “I like the way those guys are trending,” when referring to Hall and quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who’s been managing a knee injury of his own. Hall’s upgrade to a full practice supports that claim and positions him to start against the Bengals.
Like many teams in this position, the Jets have no reason to hold Hall out in a season where they are still searching for their first win. His workload has been managed in practice all week, but the absence of key offensive starters like Garrett Wilson likely means Hall will be leaned on heavily Sunday.
The Jets’ 1:00 PM ET kickoff provides fantasy managers an early answer regarding Hall’s official status, giving them plenty of time to adjust lineups if anything unexpected develops before the game begins.
On Saturday night, Adam Schefter reported that Taylor is expected to play.
Hall’s Fantasy Football Outlook
There are a lot of moving pieces for the Jets and very few of them have positive notes attached to them for Hall.
I take that back: he’s a trade candidate and that’s a positive.
While a part of this team, I’m not sure what you want him to do. His PPR points per touch are down 20% from a season ago and, thanks in large part to a lack of offensive versatility, doesn’t have a touch gaining more than eight yards in consecutive games.

If you want to cry “tough matchups,” fine. You do that. I’m not sure this Jets team could hang 30 points on 11 of PFSN’s finest and without a ceiling, the low floor (zero touchdowns this season and only one 25-yard touch) is concerning.
I do think this is his role for as long as he’s in town, but even that comes with at least some level of risk (Isaiah Davis handled New York’s second rush attempt last week). You’re starting Hall most weeks because his path to 15+ touches is reasonably clear and this week specifically because … #Bengals.
That said, it’s important to manage expectations moving forward unless he gets dealt. If that’s the case, there’s no telling how excited I’ll get.
