Top Kickers To Start in Week 3

Evan McPherson, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. Commanders)

This profiles as the “get right” spot of the week for the Bengals’ offense as a whole, and if you can get exposure to them in any way, I’d recommend doing so.

McPherson is, of course, one of the best kickers in the game, and he’s proven it when given the opportunity this season. In both games, he’s drilled a 50+ yard field goal and hasn’t missed an attempt in seven straight games.

The range is nothing short of elite, and the scoring conditions are as good as you could ask for. I’m happy to slide in the high floor that McPherson provides most weeks, and this is certainly no exception.

Ka’imi Fairbairn, Houston Texans (at Vikings)

Could we be on the verge of a special season? I’m not ruling it out, as Fairbairn has already connected on six field goals of 50+ yards, allowing this high-powered offense to be overly aggressive, knowing that once they cross midfield, they’re almost assured points.

I worry that Houston will get rolling with time, and that could mean fewer field-goal attempts. But whenever Fairbairn is playing indoors as a favorite, he’s a difference-maker, and that’s the spot he finds himself in this week.

Many leagues have moved on from requiring you to roster a kicker, but for leagues that haven’t, we’re looking at a valuable player who could help put your team over the edge — not just this week, but moving forward.
