‘Myles Garrett to Eagles Confirmed’ – Fans React Hilariously as NFL Salary Cap Soars to $279.2M in 2025

Football fans react on social media to news that the NFL salary cap is drastically increasing for the 2025 campaign.

Earlier in the week, the NFL announced that the salary cap would drastically increase next year to $279.2 million. Football fans have quickly taken to social media to discuss what this jump would mean for potential free agents or players looking for a new team.

This has led people to debate which teams stars like Myles Garrett, who recently requested a trade away from the Cleveland Browns, will end up on, due to the greater allocation of money each franchise now has.

Social Media Reaction to NFL Salary Cap Increase

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero broke the news on X that the salary cap would indeed be soaring next year, something he outlined was a record high in National Football League history.

“The NFL and NFLPA have agreed to a 2025 salary cap of $279.2 million per club, per sources. Another record high,” he stated.

In response to this post, one individual made clear their belief that Garrett was destined to end up with Philadelphia Eagles when it was all said and done.

“Myles Garrett to Eagles confirmed,” they said.

Meanwhile, one person highlighted how the increased salary cap would be amazing, particularly for teams contending for the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

“All the contending teams benefiting big time,” they outlined.

Finally, one football fan joked about the state of the New Orleans Saints salary situation, one that has consistently been exceeding the cap over the past few seasons.

“Saints cut Derek Carr with a post June 1st designation, and rework 2 or 3 deals, and they’ll FINALLY be under the cap after so many years lol,” they added.

Who Are the Biggest Free Agents This Offseason?

This year’s free agent class features numerous elite level wide receivers who will most likely benefit from the increased salary cap. Cincinnati Bengals Tee Higgins, Houston Texans Stefon Diggs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Chris Godwin, and Buffalo Bills Amari Cooper are just some of the names looking for a new contract next year.

With the increased salary cap, teams that likely wouldn’t have been able to pay certain players or be active in free agency may now have the ability to do so, something that may potentially shake up the NFL next season.
