How Old Is Travis Hunter? Examining the Jaguars Superstar’s Age, Birthday, Years in College, and More

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Travis Hunter is one of the most intriguing, hyped, and talked about NFL prospects of the last 40 years. He’s dynamic two-way player who didn’t play full-time on one side of the ball and dabble on the other. He played 100 snaps per game in 2024 for the Colorado Buffaloes, something that hasn’t been seen on the regular since the days of leather helmets.

    How Old is Travis Hunter?

Travis Hunter is 21 years old and was born on May 18, 2003. The 6’1″, 185-pound phenom attended Collins Hill School in Suwanee, Georgia. He excelled at both wide receiver and cornerback and was named MaxPreps Georgia Player of the year in 2021. Hunter became the first five-star recruit to sign with an HBCU, playing under head coach Deion Sanders at Jackson State.

What’s the Scoop on Travis Hunter?

The Jacksonville Jaguars wasted no time in trading up with the Cleveland Browns to snag Hunter second overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Then they brought him into the building and made it clear they want him to play both ways, something Hunter has been insisting on being allowed to do. He went so far as to threaten to quit playing football if he couldn’t swing both ways.

He won the Heisman Trophy following the 2024 season after posting 96 receptions, 1,258 receiving yards, and 14 receiving touchdowns as a receiver. On defense, he had 53 tackles, four interceptions, and 19 pass breakups. On top of the Heisman, he won the Chuck Bednarik Award (best Defensive Player), the Fred Biletnikoff Award (Best Receiver), and the AP College Football Player of the Year. Additionally, he was a unanimous All-American on offense, defense, and all-purpose teams.

Hunter is, without a doubt, a can’t-miss prospect on both sides of the ball. He’s physically fast, has elite hands, and has generational playmaking ability. On defense, he excels in both man and zone coverage. In man, he physically smothers his opponent. In zone, he has elite route recognition that allows him to erase an entire side of the field, a la prime Sanders.

Hunter represented the top receiving prospect by a country mile. While his technique and route running can use some refinement, he possesses All-Pro-level skills even at just 6’0″ and 188 pounds. He has insane burst off the line of scrimmage, elite body control, and agility that would make an actual jaguar jealous.

Now it’s just a matter of Jacksonville figuring out how to deploy him, manage his reps, and utilize his skills in a way that best serves his generational talents.
