The Kansas City Chiefs simply ran into the wrong team at the wrong time. Coming off their 21-point comeback victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys made a statement by beating the Eagles and Chiefs in less than a week.
Not many teams can say they did that, but Chiefs fans, and this former player, know this $88 million man didn’t help their case in pulling out a win at AT&T Stadium.
Geoff Schwartz Rips DE George Karlaftis’ Thanksgiving Performance
While it came down to the wire, the Chiefs’ defense once again allowed more points than their offense was able to put up. The Cowboys’ defense is no joke, and Kansas City was able to score 28 points in Dallas, no less. That said, the Chiefs allowed 31 points, the most they’ve allowed since October 6.
It’s an all time bad contract. Makes zero impact on the game https://t.co/aRQJiPTkUf

Surprisingly, that October 6 game was against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not often do the Chiefs allow a point total in the 30s, but it has happened twice now this season. Even though Kansas City has such a great offense, they’ve failed to win either of those games. Former Chiefs offensive lineman, Geoff Schwartz, had no issue calling out George Karlaftis after his dreadful performance against the Cowboys.
Schwartz responded to someone who asked if Karlaftis had done anything today, “It’s an all time bad contract,” he said. The 24-year-old signed a four-year, $88M deal with Kansas City that will keep him on the team through 2030. “Makes zero impact on the game,” Schwartz added.
The Chiefs seemingly have no issue giving out these massive contracts, but not all of them are home runs. Kansas City knows it needs a defense that’s good enough to keep them in games, but there have been a few instances this season where their defense has fallen far short of the standard they’ve set in this Super Bowl era.
Sure, Karlaftis is only 24 years old, but that doesn’t mean one can excuse his performance. This has become a common theme for the defensive end as Schwartz is far from the only person who was upset with him on Thanksgiving. This season, Karlaftis has 36 total tackles, which already surpasses his total from last season. He has only five sacks, but is just half a sack shy of reaching 30 in his career.
Not all of his numbers in the stat sheet look terrible, but it’s Karlaftis’ performances on the field that leave people like Schwartz mesmerized. Especially for someone who has played on the team and knows the standard everyone is held to, Schwartz is more than aware that Karlaftis has done nothing this season to justify his $88 million price tag.
