NFL players like Saquon Barkley get paid the big bucks. They’re constantly putting their bodies on the line to entertain the masses, almost like gladiators. They’re cheered and reviled, all at the same time.
While they do rake in massive salaries, they’re also constantly in the spotlight and they have a target on their back, even when they’re away from the gridiron. The Barkley family was given a harsh reminder of that fact over the weekend.
Saquon Barkley Family Robbed Early Saturday Morning
Unfortunately, Barkley and his family fell victim to a robbery attempt at around 5 a.m. ET on Saturday morning. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident. At least one suspect was reported to be in the home while Barkley and his loved ones were inside.
Barkley had to call upon the Tredyffin Township police department for help, but by the time the authorities arrived, the suspects had fled the scene. Now, police are said to be searching for “at least two” suspects, and they believe a white SUV was used to help facilitate the crime.
Meanwhile, social media came to Barkley’s defense as support poured in for the Eagles running back and his loved ones.

Others called on the NFL to address what feels like an increase in athlete break-ins lately.
“Glad his family is safe but professional athletes’ home addresses being this easy to find is a serious security problem the league needs to take more seriously,” one user said on X.

Another Eagles influencer praised the Tredyffrin police department for their service, and asked other users to retweet the post if they “stand with Saquon.”

It’s fortunate that nobody was hurt in this attempted robbery. One user pointed out that Washington star Sean Taylor was murdered after burglars entered his home in a similar incident back in 2007.
“Scary [expletive] as all Washington fans know too well,” they wrote. “Glad they are all okay.”
The police are continuing to investigate the incident. Police Captain Tyler Moyer said the authorities will look into whether this burglary attempt may have been connected to other high-profile attempts involving athletes.
