The Denver Broncos haven’t had the start they were looking for after ending their playoff drought in 2024. After a close victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, Denver dropped back-to-back games against the undefeated Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Chargers. It’s been two weeks straight of losing on field goals heartbreakingly, as the Broncos squandered fourth-quarter leads.
There is some good news for their TE Evan Engram, though.
Is Evan Engram Returning to Play For the Broncos vs. Bengals?
Engram came to Denver in the offseason from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Two games into his tenure, he suffered a back injury and missed all of Week 3. To no surprise, he didn’t appear in their loss against the Chargers.
However, Engram will be back for Week 4 and play against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.
The Broncos could use Engram back to give QB Bo Nix another weapon to throw the ball to. Nix finished Week 3 with only 153 passing yards, and 118 of those yards went to their star WR Courtland Sutton. Sutton cannot be the only productive pass catcher if the Broncos want to succeed in 2025.
Engram can be a complementary option for Sutton to open up the offense. He just needs to find his way onto the field. Broncos fans can start getting excited for his potential return as they look to take out their recent frustrations on a Bengals team without Joe Burrow.
Engram hasn’t been the guy he was in 2023 so far with Jacksonville. He caught 114 passes for 963 yards in 2023. In the two games he played this season, he has four catches for 33 yards. It’s time for that to change. Once Engram returns, he has to find a way to prove his worth to the team after signing an eight-figure deal in the offseason.
The Broncos are already falling behind in the division as their heartbreaking loss moved the Chargers to 3-0, while they dropped to 1-2. Luckily for Denver, the Chiefs and Raiders also sit at 1-2. After the Bengals, the defending champs are next up on the schedule, making this week very important. It’s not the end of the world, though, with three 0-3 teams and the struggling Cowboys to follow their tough test against Philly.
The Broncos must turn it around before it’s too late. Engram is ready for his return and wants to spark the offense, or else Denver will be a very tough spot in the race to the playoffs.
