ESPN’s Mina Kimes Pitches QB Solution to Browns’ Front Office in NFL Draft, and It Isn’t Shedeur Sanders

With the Cleveland Browns at a crossroads regarding the NFL Draft, Mina Kimes has a solution for them that doesn't involve Shedeur Sanders.

The Cleveland Browns enter the 2025 NFL Draft as one of the most puzzling teams. While their need for a quarterback is imminent, the best players available at the second overall spot track are either Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter. As a result, they have a hard choice to make when it comes to the future of the franchise.

However, according to reputed NFL analyst Mina Kimes, the Browns could come up with a creative solution. Rather than choose Shedeur Sanders at No. 2, as Cam Ward to the Tennessee Titans looks inevitable, she wants Cleveland to postpone their quarterback addition.

Mina Kimes Solves the Cleveland Browns’ QB Conundrum

As the draft draws closer, there is a legitimate possibility that the Browns will not take a new signal caller in the first round, even with Deshaun Watson out for the entire 2025 season. Instead, they could draft the best available player and add a quarterback later.

Albert Breer theorized that it might be Cleveland’s plan as their 30-visit schedule came to the forefront. And now, it is the model Kimes wants them to go with as well. Speaking on NFL Live on ESPN, she broke down her idea.

“As far as the draft goes, as it seems increasingly likely that they’re gonna go with either Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter at pick two, I would be really intrigued if they added a quarterback like Tyler Shough out of Louisville later in the draft.”

For the Browns, who signed Myles Garrett to be the highest-paid non-QB in league history, finding immediate stability is a necessity. As a result, someone who tracks as a developmental project over the next few years might not be up their alley.

“To me, he is one of the more pro-ready players, and I think for Cleveland, you do want a quarterback who’s not a developmental prospect, someone who can come in, play immediately. Imagine him throwing to Travis Hunter and Jerry Jeudy at receiver,” Kimes said.

The latest three-round 2025 NFL mock draft from PFSN, however, isn’t complicating the situation as much. Instead, Joe DeLeone has the Browns selecting Sanders in the first round and adding Luther Burden III in the second round to fill out their receiving core.

At Colorado’s pro day, Browns’ general manager Andrew Berry made it clear that he was impressed by the two superstars coming into the league from the program, Hunter and Sanders. Moreover, he wanted to somehow bring both on board with the franchise.

While it is unlikely that that situation will play out, either the PFSN mock draft or the solution Kimes presents may become a reality come April 24.
