Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark was fired by ESPN during the live broadcast of Monday’s episode of “NFL Live.”
The brutal manner of Clark’s ouster from the network, where he had been a contributor for 11 years after retiring from the NFL, sparked a strong reaction from NFL analysts and even former “NFL Live” contributors.
NFL World Slams Emmanuel Acho for Ryan Clark Claim
On Tuesday, former NFL linebacker and current analyst Emmanuel Acho argued on X that Clark is responsible for the success of “NFL Live.”
“And nobody was watching NFL Live then. Ryan Clark built NFL Live into the juggernaut it is today (along with [Laura] Rutledge, Mina [Kimes], and [Marcus] Spears), he didn’t *ideate* NFL Live, there’s a difference,” Acho argued.
It didn’t take long for analysts to call out Acho for his controversial comment.
Rear Admiral of the “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast mocked Acho for his polarizing comment, comparing him to a cheap version of Stephen A. Smith.

Outkick and Fox News contributor Dan Zaksheske was offended by Acho’s erasure of the ESPN stalwarts who built “NFL Live” into a brand.
“This is typical revisionist history thinking by trying to erase the people who made NFL Live an ESPN institution long before Ryan Clark arrived. ‘Nobody was watching’ and ‘juggernaut’ are both absurd claims with no factual backing,” Zaksheske posted.

While dismissing the former NFL linebacker’s claims, Outkick’s Dan Dakich brought up Acho’s bizarre Caitlin Clark declaration from a few weeks ago.

Chase Snyder compiled Acho’s most divisive takes so far this year.
“What’s your favorite awful Emmanuel Acho take of the year? The year is young but so far we have: – ‘No one watched the 27 year show NFL Live before Ryan Clark’ – ‘The WNBA is better off without Caitlin Clark’ – ‘Shedeur Sanders shouldn’t listen to his coaches’ … Impressive,” Snyder wrote.
Then, a former “NFL Live” contributor chimed in. Former NFL quarterback Sean Salisbury was offended by Acho’s claims, as he helped build “NFL Live” into a household name as one of the program’s OGs.

Podcaster Nikki Gist demanded respect for the original cast and creators of the show.
“You mean *was a juggernaut. A little respect for the greats that built it up before you guys,” Gist wrote.
“This guy is clueless these young [expletives] are so disrespectful to OGs it’s disgusting,” added podcaster Coach Jason Brown.
Zaksheske provided proof that the show’s heyday was between 2011 and 2016, peaking at 688,000 viewers in 2013 and gradually declining to 440,000 last year.
“NFL Live” first launched in 1998 as “NFL 2Night” on ESPN2 before rebranding and being moved to ESPN four years later. Three years later, it transitioned to high-definition broadcasting, and its runtime was doubled from 30 minutes to an hour in 2011.
