‘WHAT THE HELL???’ — Ex-NFL LB Blasts Tua Tagovailoa for ‘Day 1’ Mistake That Cost Dolphins the W vs. Bills

A second straight game ending with a Tua Tagovailoa error led a former linebacker to eviscerate the Miami Dolphins quarterback and roster.

Another week, another referendum on the Miami Dolphins. The current quarterback-head coach duo of Tua Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel had been put through the wringer in consecutive weeks thanks to two awful losses to begin the 2025 season. Week 1 was a complete no-show from the team, as they were blown out 33-8 by the Indianapolis Colts.

A stronger performance in Week 2 showed signs of life. But the game came to an end when Tagovailoa threw an interception in the fourth quarter while being down 33-27. Rather than the trend changing, a similar story unfolded against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3, as another mistake from the former first-round pick cost Miami the game.

As a result, a former NFL star turned analyst had some brutal film breakdowns against the Dolphins’ franchise quarterback.

Is Tua Tagovailoa the Problem?

Last week, it was an interception with less than two and a half minutes in the game that basically lost Miami the game. Things did not take a turn for the better this week. After remaining competitive for 55 minutes, the Dolphins were at the Bills’ 21-yard line, down 28-21.

With Tagovailoa up to 133 passing yards and two touchdowns, there was hope that he could tie up the scores once again. However, in an eerily similar scenario to Week 2, the Alabama alum tried to throw a short pass to Jaylen Waddle.

Buffalo’s Terrel Bernard, though, came flying in for the interception before going 24 yards on the return. It gave his team the ball back with a little over four minutes left in the contest, enough to add a field goal to their tally and win the game 31-21.

Immediately following the pick, former linebacker Emmanuel Acho took to X to offer scathing criticism of Tagovailoa. Captioning the video, “Tua…WHAT THE HELL?? This is day 1 stuff,” the former Philadelphia Eagles star began his video the same way.

Continuing, he explained, “Bruh, they in a basic zone coverage, and the linebacker is reading you the whole way. You telegraphed the whole thing. Bruh.” He wasn’t done with his opinions on the team yet.

Instead of focusing squarely on the quarterback, Acho believed it was time for a major change in Miami. “This Dolphins season is cooked, bro. If you start 0-3, you have a 2.5% chance to make the playoffs.”

He then started listing off people by name. “Mike McDaniel looks like he cooked. Tua Tagovailoa looks like he cooked. Miami Dolphins roster looks like it’s cooked. You gotta blow the whole thing.” Finishing off the video, he still couldn’t believe “How Tua throw that pick with the game on the line.”

As he could not stomach his disbelief, the anger at the Dolphins roster and management was a near-universal feeling throughout the fan base. Over two weeks, calls to fire the general manager and head coach, while benching the quarterback, had continually made the rounds.

Another game ending on a critical interception was only going to add fuel to the proverbial fire. It remained to be seen if the fan anger would manifest in the form of some actual changes from the organization.
