Emery Jones’ NFL Draft Scouting Report

In a league desperate for offensive line help, Emery Jones is an intriguing prospect. A three-year starter in LSU’s pass-heavy offense, he brings elite size, strength, and power but is an average athlete overall. As a run blocker, Jones is a true mauler who thrives on physicality.

He fires off the ball with aggression, generating movement at the line of scrimmage. His strong hands allow him to latch onto defenders and control engagements, particularly in man-blocking schemes.

However, Jones’ balance and flexibility are concerns. He often plays too far over his toes, causing him to fall off blocks. He also struggles in space, making second-level blocking a challenge.

In pass protection, Jones’ size and length are his best assets. His powerful punch can disrupt rushers early in the rep, and his ability to anchor makes him tough to beat with power. His ceiling is uncertain, but he can be an above-average right tackle or guard.

Emery Jones’ Latest NFL Draft Projection

PFSN’s Ian Cummings projected Jones to be drafted 73rd overall to the New York Jets in his most recent 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

Cummings said, “With both guards entering contract years, Emery Jones Jr. is a sensible pick for New York. He projects well inside with his burly, long-levered build, but also has right tackle utility.”

Where Does Emery Jones Rank Among 2025’s OT Prospects?

Here are the top 10 OT rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to PFSN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings:

    10. Emery Jones Jr., LSU
    9. Ozzy Trapilo, Boston College
    8. Marcus Mbow, Purdue
    7. Josh Conerly Jr., Oregon
    6. Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona
    5. Donovan Jackson, Ohio State
    4. Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas
    3. Josh Simmons, Ohio State
    2. Will Campbell, LSU
    1. Armand Membou, Missouri

Emery Jones Jr. was one of my highest-rated offensive tackle prospects heading into the 2025 NFL Draft cycle. A down year has caused him to slide, and new limitations have come to light. Nevertheless, he’s still a viable Day 2 option with projected tackle-guard flexibility.

At 6’5″, 315 pounds, with over 34″ arms, Jones passes the eye test, and his size profile comes with added boons, such as his reach, punch power, and suffocating anchor strength. He can also be plodding with his feet, however, and stiff in his hips when redirecting.

With his clean pass sets, Jones could feasibly stick at right tackle with more consistency. Weary teams could eye a move to guard, but Jones’ size, reasonable athleticism, heavy hands, and near-immovability against power are arguments against a move.
