Emeka Egbuka’s NFL Draft Scouting Report
Emeka Egbuka is a well-built movement-Z receiver who projects as an impact NFL starter. He offers good overall size for the position and has good strength and athleticism. He primarily aligned in the slot while at Ohio State, but he has the size, athleticism, and separation IQ to move across the formation.
Egbuka is an excellent route runner, who can use head and body fakes to create separation while also using his hands to keep his body clear through stems. He’s a third-down machine who consistently gets open and moves the chains. He has extremely strong hands and outstanding body control over the middle, and after the catch, he’s tough and competitive with the ball in his hands.
Egbuka will likely never be a home-run threat at the next level, as he lacks the deep speed to stress NFL-caliber corners vertically. But ultimately, he’s a valuable high-volume Swiss army knife with multi-level and blocking utility.

Emeka Egbuka’s Latest NFL Draft Projection
PFSN’s Ian Cummings projects that Egbuka will be picked No. 22 overall by the Los Angeles Chargers in his latest seven-round mock draft.
Cummings said, “Wide receiver isn’t always regarded as a top need for the Los Angeles Chargers, but one look at the position group invites uncertainty. Ladd McConkey is a true WR1, but Quentin Johnston is all too volatile, and Mike Williams is past his prime. L.A. needs a viable partner in crime for McConkey.”
“If he’s still on the board, Emeka Egbuka feels like a slam-dunk pick. He’s a movement-Z who can flex around McConkey across the formation. He has juice as a RAC threat, can carve through zone coverage, can make chain-moving catches, and he’s a fantastic blocker.”

Where Does Emeka Egbuka Rank Among 2025’s WR Prospects?
Here are the top 10 WR rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to PFSN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings:
10. Kyle Williams, Washington State
9. Jayden Higgins, Iowa State
8. Tre Harris, Ole Miss
7. Jaylin Noel, Iowa State
6. Luther Burden III, Missouri
5. Jalen Royals, Utah State
4. Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona
3. Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State
2. Matthew Golden, Texas
1. Travis Hunter, Colorado
Egbuka is sometimes the forgotten man in the 2025 NFL Draft first-round WR group, but he has just as compelling a case to be a featured pass-catcher in an NFL offense. His career-best 2024 season serves as proof of that assertion.
Egbuka has struggled with injuries in the past, but when he’s healthy, he thrives as a movement-Z receiver with alignment flex, RAC ability, and masterful route-running skills — particularly against zone coverage.
Athletic upside has always been the biggest question for Egbuka, and a 4.45 40-yard dash at his pro day will put some detractors at ease. Regardless, his short-area agility and flexibility shows up on tape, and it’s dangerous when paired with his play strength and IQ.
