New Bills wide receiver Elijah Moore has already recorded 139 receptions for 1,624 receiving yards in his four-year career, and he has done it with substandard quarterback play. Moore is now excited for the 2025 season after signing with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year, $5 million contract as a free agent.
Moore is already relishing the prospect of catching balls from last season’s NFL MVP, Josh Allen, after dealing with quarterback carousels as a member of the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns.
Elijah Moore Expresses Disappointment with Quarterback Play
Moore has the unfortunate luck of playing with some of the lesser quarterbacks in the first four years of his NFL career, and is understandably excited with the prospect of playing with Josh Allen.
He told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle: “For me, it’s more like my whole career, I haven’t really had too many great opportunities with a stable quarterback the entire season.
“I have run into some quarterback trouble. I can’t throw the ball to myself. The guys that I have played with in the past were not bad quarterbacks, I’m saying that – it’s just kind of the situation. I’ve been playing with so many guys … feels like five quarterbacks every single season, you know.”
Moore was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. In his two years with the Jets, he caught passes from a 36-year-old Joe Flacco, Zach Wilson, Josh Johnson, and Mike White.
Frustrated with his opportunities with the Jets, he requested a trade and was traded to the Cleveland Browns. The starting quarterback was Deshaun Watson, but Watson played poorly in both 2023 and 2024 and also missed games due to injury.
He played with Joe Flacco again, as Flacco joined as Deshaun Watson’s replacement. He also played with Dorian Thompson-Robinson, PJ Walker, Jeff Driskel, and Jameis Winston while on the Browns.
Moore Shares Excitement About Playing with Josh Allen
Moore now gets to play with one of the best quarterbacks in Allen. The Bills’ franchise quarterback became the only player in NFL history to record more than 25 passing touchdowns, 10 rushing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown.
“Being blessed with the opportunity to, God willing, have 17 for the entire season with the MVP at that, a top-tier caliber player, top-tier caliber team, top-tier caliber coaches, putting you in position — I feel like it would just be the best position that I’ve been put in yet.”
Moore now becomes the highest-profile addition to the Bills’ wide receiver room, which includes Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel.
