A Brief Introduction to EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI

KPop Demon Hunters is one of Netflix’s most-watched animated films, and the three singing characters in the movie are members of HUNTR/X, Rumi (EJAE), Mira (Audrey Nuna), and Zoey (REI AMI). While the film helped boost their popularity, all three artists had established careers before the animated project.

EJAE is a 34-year-old Korean-American singer who began music training at an early age. She developed her songwriting and beat-making skills while studying at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

In 2019, she co-wrote the hit song “Psycho” for K-pop girl group Red Velvet. Before working on KPop Demon Hunters, EJAE spent years behind the scenes in the K-pop industry as a writer. Her hard work paid off in November, when KPop Demon Hunters’ song “Golden” earned her a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year.

Audrey Nuna, the second member of the trio, is a 26-year-old genre-bending rapper and singer born in New Jersey. She provides the singing voice for Mira in KPop Demon Hunters.

Nuna first gained attention in the indie and alt-R&B scene with bold music and a distinctive sense of style. She has shared that working on the film felt deeply personal, as its message reflected her own journey of embracing her true self.

The third singer, REI AMI, born Sarah Yeeun Lee, is an alt-pop and rap artist who voices Zoey in the animated movie. She attended the University of Maryland, where she studied communication and began using music as a way to cope after being diagnosed with depression. Music has not only helped her become famous but also played a key role in helping her navigate some of the toughest moments of her life.
