Philadelphia Eagles vs. Detroit Lions prediction and odds | Week 8

[bet-promo id=”149453″]

  • Spread: -3.5 Eagles
  • Moneyline: -190 Eagles, +160 Lions
  • Over/Under: 48.5 (-110 Over, -110 Under)
  • Odds from DraftKings sportsbook

The Eagles open as 3.5-point favorites on the road against the Lions. Philadelphia enters the week with a 2-5 record (2-2 on the road), while Detroit’s 0-7 record remains the only winless mark in the NFL.

The trend isn’t in Philadelphia’s favor if you’re looking to bet against the spread. Over the last nine games in which the Eagles were a favorite, they’ve covered just once. None of those games were against a winless Lions team, though.

Who wants to win more?

Detroit has struggled to finish a game all year. They’re two field goals away from being 2-5, but they’ve lost three games by double digits. Their biggest loss of the year came against the Bengals two weeks ago, where they failed to run the ball consistently. In other games, quarterback Jared Goff has struggled to move the ball down the field with any regularity.

For the Eagles, defensive consistency has been the issue, giving up at least 33 points in three of the last five weeks. The only team they’ve held to under 28 points was a struggling Panthers offense without Christian McCaffrey.

Eagles vs. Lions prediction

As a fan, you feel for head coach Dan Campbell. They’ve been due for a win but can’t put a complete 60 minutes together. The Eagles genuinely haven’t looked much better (and in some ways might be even more of a mess than the Lions), but overall, Philadelphia has more weapons than Detroit.

Jalen Hurts should keep the Eagles in this game, but expect a fight from Campbell’s squad. Don’t be surprised if Detroit finally finds a way to win one late.

Prediction: Eagles 27, Lions 24
