Eagles emerge as trade suitors for Myles Garrett after Browns star risks $1M bonus, fueling speculation over a blockbuster move.

The future of Myles Garrett is once again under the spotlight as speculation grows around a potential blockbuster move away from Cleveland. Trade chatter intensified after the Browns adjusted his contract, and now his absence from voluntary workouts only raises eyebrows.

With financial implications and competitive ambitions both in play, the situation is quickly becoming one of the most closely watched storylines of the offseason. Teams across the league are monitoring developments, especially contenders looking for a defensive game-changer. Among them, the Philadelphia Eagles have emerged as a potential landing spot for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

Eagles Named as Potential Destination For Myles Garrett Amid

In a recent report, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport highlighted how Cleveland’s contract restructure sparked fresh rumors about Garrett’s long-term future. The timing raised eyebrows, particularly given the Browns’ current trajectory as a rebuilding team.

“The Cleveland Browns restructured the contract of reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett recently, and as soon as that happened the rumors started flying,” Davenport noted. “Garrett wanted to play for a Super Bowl contender, while a rebuilding Browns team was looking to get what it could for a player on the wrong side of his 30th birthday.”

He further added that Garrett’s decision to skip voluntary workouts has only intensified speculation around a potential exit. However, the financial and logistical hurdles of such a move are also massive. He named the Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers as potential destinations for the seven-time Pro Bowler.

“Any trade for Garrett would be a whopper,” Davenport explained. “Last year’s Micah Parsons deal is probably the starting point in terms of compensation. The Texas A&M product has a no-trade clause, so he would have to sign off on any deal.”

“And a trade before June 1 would blast the Browns for a $40.3 million dead cap hit,” Davenport added. “However, it’s not hard to imagine teams being interested in a guy who has won DPOY honors in two of the past three years and just broke the single-season sack record.”

Adding another layer to the situation, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported that Garrett’s absence from offseason activities could come at a cost.

“Browns defensive end and single-season sack leader Myles Garrett has skipped the start of the team’s offseason program,” Florio noted. “That puts him on track to lose $1 million in 2026 compensation.”

He further clarified the conditions tied to that bonus, stating, “To earn it, Garrett must participate in 84.375% of the offseason workout sessions, participate in all minicamps, participate in all OTA days, and timely report to training camp.”

Garrett’s on-field dominance explains why contenders like the mighty Eagles would consider such a move. According to PFSN’s EDGE Impact Metric, he delivered an elite 95.6 impact score in 2025, ranking No. 1 at his position with an A grade.

As the offseason progresses, the tension between financial realities and player ambition will shape how this situation unfolds. Whether Garrett stays in Cleveland or forces a move to a contender such as Philadelphia remains to be seen, but the decision could have far-reaching ripple effects across the league.
