The Philadelphia Eagles were expected to stay atop the NFC after destroying the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. While they got out to a 4-0 start, they suffered back-to-back losses to the Denver Broncos and New York Giants, highlighting some issues for the offense.
The defense stepped up, helping to rattle off four more wins, but the issues came to a head in Week 12 against the Dallas Cowboys. They followed back home in Week 13 as Philadelphia lost another game to the Chicago Bears. While the loss doesn’t significantly impact their postseason chances according to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor, the door is starting to open for them to lose their hold on the NFC East.
What Are the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2025 Playoff Chances?
Heading into the Week 13 Black Friday game, Philadelphia had a 97.5% chance to make the playoffs, a 95.8% chance to win the NFC East, and a 17.8% chance to clinch the NFC’s No. 1 seed, which was even after losing to the Cowboys in Week 12, according to our model.
However, what’s more concerning is the offensive struggles. After scoring 21 points against Dallas in the first half, the Eagles failed to score another touchdown until the third quarter in Week 13.
The slow start to the Black Friday matchup put Philadelphia in a 10-3 hole at the end of the first half. While the Eagles were able to score a touchdown in the second half, Chicago punched it into the end zone two more times to extend their lead. Philadelphia scored a touchdown late, but just didn’t have enough to complete the comeback after a failed two-point conversion, making the score 24-15.

Now, with their second two-game losing streak of the season and sitting at 8-4, the Eagles still have a comfortable chance to make the NFL postseason as their percentage dropped by 7.3 percentage points to 90.2%.

Philadelphia’s chances of winning the NFC East dropped slightly to 84.1%, but they remain the overwhelming favorite. While their chances of winning the division are still quite high, the Cowboys’ gaining momentum should have Philadelphia on high alert.
The bigger concern for Philadelphia is its chance to clinch the NFC’s No. 1 overall seed. The Eagles saw that percentage free-fall from 17.8% to just a 5.8% chance. In fact, the Bears actually jumped them in that column, as their chance to clinch the NFC’s No. 1 seed jumped from 5.9% to 12.1%.
The Bears will also jump the Eagles in the standings, with Philadelphia, the Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Lions on their heels. The Eagles will have to figure out how to get things back on track before their playoff chances drop any lower.
